"Great location and owners where great, even through the Hurricane! We had booked the house for 2 weeks, arrived on Sunday June 29th and home was very clean and all the cooking plates you would need, especially since we were there for an extended period. Along came Arthur and mandatory evacuation on Thursday July 3rd, so we got lucky and found an Hotel in Plymouth. The owners called the next day and said they had ridden the storm out with 96 mph winds, their house which in near our rental, neither had lost power or sustained any damage, for us to come back as soon as we were able to get back onto Hatteras Island. We got back on island Sat night, July 5th, and owners had begun to clean out sound water from area including under the house. They were extremely accommodating and apologetic we had to leave and come back! Bottom line, you cannot go wrong with renting this house and from the owners, they are great! The location is about a 5 minute walk to beach and a beach chairs, bogie boards and a cart is provided. The screen porch and crows nest are awesome! Just ask the owners for best places to eat or buy local seafood! Couldn't ask for better treatment from property owners to Dare County officials and NC DOT who rocked to get the Hatteras Island back open so quickly after a Hurricane Cat 2 passing through. We will be back!"Guest: gman Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 18, 2014View listing
"This was our first trip to the OBX and it was perfect! It all began with Lisa, the owner of the home who was really helpful in answering any questions I had about the place and area. There were 9 of us staying there all in our mid-late 30's. The house was perfect and the layout was great. We especially enjoyed the openness of the family room and the kitchen where we spent a large amount of time cooking together and grilling. The kitchen really had nearly everything you would need. The beach was such a short walk that it was easy to spend a few hours there, come back to lounge by the pool and then go back to the beach if you wanted to. The beach was great because it wasn't crowded and the waves were plentiful. Very relaxing! We did a large amount of our grocery shopping when we arrived and did not eat out a lot, so can't comment too much on the places to eat nearby. We did try top dog cafe which was great (get the fish tacos!!), and also checked out a new place about 1/2 mile walk down called Waterman's Bar and Grill which has live bands on some nights. It was pretty cool and we would definitely go back. We worked with shore details to get some towels, linens for the beds and beach chairs. They were great to work with and the rental costs for the linens were very really reasonable. They were also there if we had any issues and responded quickly. We had to call them when we went to grill as the propane tank was empty and quickly had it replaced for us and apologized for any inconvenience. Super sweet people. We had such a great time that we are planning on staying there again and have already reserved our week for next year!"Guest: Laura Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: September 15, 2014View listing
"What a sweet little apartment! This property met all of our needs! My husband and I could not check into our cottage until Sunday, so we stayed in this 1 bedroom for 2 nights! Our dogs loved it too! We were close to the beach and the sound, a must when you have an English Springer Spaniel who LOVES to swim! Lynn, the owner, offers a clean place to stay and she is so very accommodating and flexible! If you stay, you MUST take advantage of the outdoor shower....incredible and so enjoyable after a day in the sun and sand! We will most definitely rent this apartment in the future!"Guest: Stephanie Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: September 17, 2014View listing
