  • Great Family Vacation

"My husband, myself and our three children just spent a relaxing week at the Mad Hatteras. We found everything to be just as promised, from the roomy accommodations to the short walk to the beach. The spacious kitchen was well-stocked for cooking meals, saving money on eating out all of the time. We visited the week before the start of the official season and were pleased with the sparse crowds on the beach. It was much more relaxing being able to sit back and let the kids wander around than at a busy beach where you're constantly losing them in the crowd. I would highly recommend both Rodanthe and the Mad Hatteras for a fun and enjoyable vacation. The owners were also very kind and quick to respond to inquiries and to get the week reserved for us. If we return to the OBX next year, we will definitely try to book this home again."

  • Our family week

"This adorable little cottage was remarkable for my family. Very clean and well taken care of. The kitchen I found was stocked with everything we needed for cooking and serving. Was just the right size to accommodate four adults and two children. Just three house from the walkway on the dunes to the beach. Which is a touch of heaven. The evenings were very relaxing, an extremely safe walk to the beach to enjoy the campfire while the kids delighted in ghost crab hunting. Just down the road is the entrance to the ferry. A stone throw away to a convenience store which has odds and ends from groceries, gas, to everything a fisherman would need. We had the wonderful opportunity in meeting the owners Alan and Susan while we were on our vacation. Exceptional couple truly caring and friendly. We feel as though we have made new friends. Definitely a do over!! :)"

  • Great for Families

"We stayed here with two other families and the house and location were great. We had stayed in other areas on the Outer Banks before and appreciate the location of this house away from the busy areas, but still very convenient to stores, and activities. Enjoyed the short ride out to Ocracoke. Between the pool (nicer than expected!), the beach, and the hot tub always something to do. Thanks for sharing your home with us."

  • Wonderful Visit and Great Owner!

"My husband and I and our dogs had the best stay at Otter's Pub! It was everything we were looking for and more. We crabbed, fished, kayaked and stand-up paddleboarded from the dock each day and took advantage of the wonderful outdoor shower to wash off the salt water. The unit was very convenient to Frisco Beach and Hatteras, where we spent each afternoon at our own private beach and paddled to the islands for some clamming. We were looking to relax, and we found it at Otter's Pub. Stephanie was extremely easy to work with and responded very quickly to all inquiries and/or concerns. It was the cleanest rental we have had at the beach, however it was obvious it was the end of the season and perhaps the cleaning folks weren't as detail oriented as they are earlier in the summer. Regardless, we would return and hopefully take advantage of the in-law suite and the extra bedroom that we didn't need on this visit."
