  • Perfect Getaway for Two

"We had no idea what to expect when we booked the cottage, but we were pleasantly surprised by how quaint and cozy Clemmons Cottage. The cottage was clean and comfortable, and the décor was both festive and homey--it really made the cottage feel like home. There is plenty of room for a couple to relax and wind down after a busy day of shopping and sightseeing, Its location was very convenient--just a short walk to downtown Manteo. Everyone we met in Manteo was friendly and welcoming. We cannot wait to come back! Thanks to Sharon for being a wonderful hostess."

  • Escaping the northeast for 2 weeks plus in wonderful Manteo!

"After being fed up with way too much snow and cold up north, my husband and I were thrilled to find our way to Midgett House in downtown Manteo. Sharon is The Absolute Best to work with from my first inquiry throughout our stay! Any questions were answered with lightening speed and she couldn't have been more accommodating. The house is very comfortable and well set up. The parking on the street was very convenient. Even off season there are quite a few restaurants open in town, shops and a gallery...and many more a short drive away into Nags Head, etc. Our Shetland Sheepdog came along with us and enjoyed himself especially on the beaches that are only about a 6 minute drive away. There's nothing like the beach with a dog in the winter! In addition there are a number of walking/bike paths around town. And if you enjoy nature - Manteo is a great spot because it is within reach of so many wildlife refuges. We spent quite a bit of time in the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge birding...and we saw 5 otters at play from about 5 feet away! The birds and ducks were fantastic both on the ocean beaches as well as in the marshes and sounds in the area. Bring your binoculars! We can't wait to come back, sit on the front porch in warmer weather and enjoy all this great little town has to offer from farmers market to First Fridays!"

  • Perfection!!

"Everything about this vacation was perfect- magnolia cottage was extraordinarily beautiful and welcoming. The weather was sunny and mostly in mid 70's, giving us plenty of time to relax in the garden patio or on the wraparound porch. The eating was delicious.... We especially loved Owens and The Blue Water Grille. The town is filled with friendly shops selling many local artist's work. We brought much home.... Too wonderful to resist. We loved Manteo so much we have decided to retire there soon. Plenty to do, lots of history and hang gliding as well as a truly phenomenal state park nearby. Perfect for every age."

  • Great Value! Lots of space, clean apartment.

"My family of 4 (hubby, kids 4 &6 yrs, and I) stayed at this rental for a week in July. It was such a fantastic deal. Here are the pros: *LOTS of space. We originally had planned for some relatives to travel with us, but they flaked out on us so it was just us four. We didn't even use the back bedroom with the most beds. I loved that my kids had their own room, beds, TV, and bathroom. (They slept on the double futon and twin bed in the room with the washer and dryer.) Plenty of towels were provided, too. *Outdoor equipment - We used the beach gear. We kept chairs and umbrellas in our car all week. Bonnie even let us use her personal ice chest cooler. We also used the bikes one day. There are PLENTY of adult bikes to choose from. My son refused to use the bike that fit him best because it was a girl bike. So, we used the tandem and one of the tag alongs. They were a little rusty, and the pedal fell off the tag along twice while riding. It screwed back on, so it wasn't a huge deal though it did scare my daughter. *Little kitchen - There are plates and utensils and everything except a range. We loved that we could have fruit and toast and such. *The owner - Bonnie was easy to deal with and very accommodating. Here are some things you should know when considering the property: *Location: It is easy to find, and Manteo is a good central location for exploring the OBX. However, this house is on a bumpy dirt road, and the first house you pass on the left looks abandoned. Not pretty. Manteo a different feel than the rest of the OBX. It is NOT a beach town at all, so don't expect that kind of atmosphere. *Beds - The queen beds in the rental are not that comfortable. (The twin and the futon were fine.) The one we used in the room in which you enter was so soft it sank deeply when you got on it, and it made a lot of noise if you moved at all. *The washer and dyer are what you expect for being in an inexpensive place. It takes a really long time to do a load; the dryer in particular takes forever to dry towels. So, you got to plan to do your loads with that in mind. Having said that, I would recommend this rental to anyone who wants to explore the OBX and have a good value place to stay in. Last year we stayed in a budget hotel near the beach. I liked this place better since it had a LOT more room, the washer & dryer, and the beach gear."
