  • Beautiful beach cottage

"What a beautiful, relaxing cottage in a great location! We loved the cottage and all of its décor. It is well maintained cottage and the photos accurately show its beauty. It was a great place to relax in the evenings with the family and dogs. Its location is in the heart of the Outer Banks and an easy access to the Northern or Southern part of OBX. Sharon was great to deal with. She sent the information by mail and email and responded quickly to any questions we had. I highly recommend the Magnolia Cottage and hope to return soon."

  • Clean, updated, comfortable

"As everyone has stated in their review, the owner (Carl) is a pleasure to talk with and is a great host from the very beginning. The very clean and updated unit is in an immaculately-maintained community that is just between downtown Manteo's waterfront and the wide beaches at Nag's Head. We were especially grateful for the ease of contacting the unit's manager (Rosie) when we really had to -- we locked our condo keys inside one morning! I called Rosie (who was actually on vacation herself), she spent some time making calls, and then about 30 minutes later Carl's wife came by to open the condo and save the day! We were so grateful and this exemplified the hospitality we got from everyone (including the neighbors downstairs) we encountered. We'll be back."

  • Great Value! Lots of space, clean apartment.

"My family of 4 (hubby, kids 4 &6 yrs, and I) stayed at this rental for a week in July. It was such a fantastic deal. Here are the pros: *LOTS of space. We originally had planned for some relatives to travel with us, but they flaked out on us so it was just us four. We didn't even use the back bedroom with the most beds. I loved that my kids had their own room, beds, TV, and bathroom. (They slept on the double futon and twin bed in the room with the washer and dryer.) Plenty of towels were provided, too. *Outdoor equipment - We used the beach gear. We kept chairs and umbrellas in our car all week. Bonnie even let us use her personal ice chest cooler. We also used the bikes one day. There are PLENTY of adult bikes to choose from. My son refused to use the bike that fit him best because it was a girl bike. So, we used the tandem and one of the tag alongs. They were a little rusty, and the pedal fell off the tag along twice while riding. It screwed back on, so it wasn't a huge deal though it did scare my daughter. *Little kitchen - There are plates and utensils and everything except a range. We loved that we could have fruit and toast and such. *The owner - Bonnie was easy to deal with and very accommodating. Here are some things you should know when considering the property: *Location: It is easy to find, and Manteo is a good central location for exploring the OBX. However, this house is on a bumpy dirt road, and the first house you pass on the left looks abandoned. Not pretty. Manteo a different feel than the rest of the OBX. It is NOT a beach town at all, so don't expect that kind of atmosphere. *Beds - The queen beds in the rental are not that comfortable. (The twin and the futon were fine.) The one we used in the room in which you enter was so soft it sank deeply when you got on it, and it made a lot of noise if you moved at all. *The washer and dyer are what you expect for being in an inexpensive place. It takes a really long time to do a load; the dryer in particular takes forever to dry towels. So, you got to plan to do your loads with that in mind. Having said that, I would recommend this rental to anyone who wants to explore the OBX and have a good value place to stay in. Last year we stayed in a budget hotel near the beach. I liked this place better since it had a LOT more room, the washer & dryer, and the beach gear."
