  • Best Family Vacation Ever!!!!!!!!!

"We rented Rodanthe Paradise during the last week in August. This was our first time vacationing in the Outerbanks. We were looking forward to a fun week with our family and friends (in all - we stayed in the house with 3 other families; 8 adults and 8 kids under the age of 7). We are from out of town - so relied mainly on the internet - and looked for a large house on the water (specifically the ocean side). We were so thankful to find this amazing house!!! The owner, Paul, is the greatest person!!!! He was so helpful and provided us with great contacts before we left (it definitely helps to know where to find good pizza in the area!). Paul also provided us with a great contact that had answers to all of our questions - which was so helpful!!! Once we arrived at the beach house - we were beyond impressed with the location of the house - and the size of the house!!! We actually had a hard time deciding where each family would stay - because each room is amazing - great sizes and all with large beautiful bathrooms! The house is in amazing condition - the kitchen is amazing (and fully stocked!!!) - and opens up to a impressive great room (and the largest kitchen table we have ever seen!!!). The views are AMAZING!!!! With lots of little kids in the house - it made walking to the beach easy (it was literally steps away!!!) - and the best part - the Pier (which is the shortest walk from the house - you can literally see it from the house!!) !!! Paul has an agreement with the pier owners that anyone that stays in his house has access to the pier (otherwise - it cost $ to site see/fish on the pier). With lots of kids looking for fun things to do - it was great to walk to pier and enjoy the view while fishing (our little 6-year old even caught a fish!!! Highlight of his trip!!!). The pier also has live music on certain nights during the summer and a fun little game/arcade area for the kids! The beach house is in an amazing location - at the end of the street (short walk!) is a great little shop area - great coffee House, fun bead store for the kids - and even a few shops to get some fun souvenirs! We enjoyed many nights in this beautiful house!!!! Paul is amazing - and his house is beautiful!!!!! We definitely highly recommend this house for your next family vacation!!!! Thank you, Paul!!!!!!!!!"

  • Beautiful and peaceful location perfectly situated in Outer Banks

"We rented Inn over Our Heads for the last two weeks of August 2014. My family (2 small children ages 4 & 7, Mom, husband & two small dogs) really enjoyed our first time in the Outerbanks. Inn Over Heads is perfectly situated, stocked with all the essentials including beach chairs and bikes and everything in the home was in good working order. It is a short stroll to the beach, close to restaurants, ice cream shops, and great fishing and crabbing piers for the little ones. Scott was extremely helpful and provided very helpful information and insights regarding things to do and restaurants to try as well as fish shops. We really enjoyed our vacation and were so pleased to be far from the congestion and mega monster homes of Nags Head, Duck and Corolla. We felt we truly enjoyed the peace and beauty of the Outer Banks. We will definitely be back and will stay at Inn Over Our Heads again!"

  • Calm vacation

"The area of Salvo is perfect for a quiet vacation, 30 to 40 min drive to Kill Devil Hills. Beach access walkway from the house is 2 houses over and available to neighboring homes, I would call it a short hike to the beach. Beach area is fairly private and had no issues with a 9 and 5yo running all over the beach. The area is QUIET, people mostly driving through Salvo to get south. Grocery store 15 min south of Salvo and a few restaurants within a close drive of the house. Dollar Tree store by the Food Lion also if you need a few dollar items you didn't have room to pack or discovered you need. Now for the house; easy to find it's really blue but so is every 15th house in the area. Pool was great for days the kids wanted to swim but were concerned about the weather walking to the beach. Fridge and ice maker at pool, plenty of seating, no pool toys, pool kept clean! Outdoor enclosed shower with hot water, BONUS! Main bedrooms have deck access, kids bunk rooms do not have deck access, SAFETY! Bedrooms are sufficient sizes for sleeping. We slept in the first main bedroom. The liquid barrier sheet is sooo crunchy sounding and there was some issue with the frame being very creaky just from rolling over. We should have tried another bed. Extra blankets and pillows in huge closet. Bathrooms were spacious enough but bring or buy your TP. They provide half size rolls, we brought 2 rolls with us and had to buy more; 1 female, 3 males. Trash bags provided are super thin and clear, bring your own. Beautiful kitchen was FULLY stocked with appliances, tupperware, and silverware. Plenty of main floor room for two families. Rec area upstairs great for kids but kids needed railing rules! Hot tub was a great experience for kids and would be great for adults if the weather was cooler. House was clean, no sand on the floor but a cleaning service does not put that touch of care into the home that an owner would. Straightening drawers, washing small rugs, making sure the clock worked, etc. Refrigerator ice maker did not work, we kept the pool ice in a bowl in the freezer, owners apologized in a note, not a convienient feature though. We were responsible for taking out trash on certain days but didnt realize until 3 days in, wasn't a problem though, more of a surprise. Sun rises over the ocean at the deck area and sets at front of the house by car port, absolutely beautiful."

  • Great for pets!

"We loved this home! We were here for a partial week in September with our black lab. Our dog loved walking around and around the house on the upper deck... on "patrol"... He also loved laying on the back upper deck feeling the breeze. There are gates on the front and back steps so we didn't have to worry about him getting loose. The outdoor shower made it really easy to rinse off the dog after playing on the beach. We really only used the 2nd floor of the house because it was just 2 of us, but the bottom floor is a complete unit in itself with its own kitchen etc. The top floor has new carpet, the beds were very comfortable, & the kitchen was fully equipped. It was great grilling on the front deck with a view of the ocean. Most days we could just walk straight across the street to the ocean, unless those houses were rented... Otherwise the beach access is only about 4 houses down - a very short walk. The house is also close to Winks grocery which had great chicken salad lunch plates! Deb is very easy to deal with & will answer any questions you have!"
