  • Brand new, beautiful and so perfect

"This was our first trip to Surf City and a great one it was. The home is beautiful and very well equipped with everything you need. The decor is beautiful in every room, significant space throughout. The hot water was always very hot and the water pressure was great too. 4 decks! Need I say more. The walk to the beach however was too complicated with toddlers although would be ok for teens and adults, we chose to drive to the public access beach areas. The views of the ocean from the house are minimal and very distant, not much of a view, sounds, in a previous review they said falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean were wonderful.... I think they may have had supersonic hearing, lol. The yellow room sliding door did not lock but was not a cause for worry. I was at loss for words when we entered the home, it was simply "wow"! Great visit. Words of advice, if you are not from the area and not familiar with it (we were not), bring some kind of bug repellent or stay inside as it becomes dark, the mosquitoes were terrible!!! 5 STAR HOUSE!!!! LOVED IT! Also looking left off the top balcony (non pool side) was an old dock, we walked through a run down path to get there but was nice photo experience, once again, wear bug repellent. A short ways passed the house was a small park where the small children could play and that also had a dock, was able to see a fox running through the wetlands. Very nice place to visit!!!! Two thumbs up on this property."

  • Fantastic accomodations on Bald Head Island

"Sometimes pictures are misleading, but in the case of this Sumner's Crescent cottage everything was as advertised. The house is in great shape, the kitchen had everything we could ask for and the Master Bedroom was ultra comfortable. Having Direct TV with the Sunday ticket package for week 1 of the NFL games was an unexpected gift! The location is perfect, the best beaches on the island are two minute golf cart rides away. What I most appreciated was the comminuications that I had with the owner and the local property manager, they were prompt and curteous. Upon arrival we had an issue with our golf cart holding a charge, within an hour of my message a new golf cart arrived. We will certainly return to Bald Head Island and this is where we plan to stay."

  • Coming back next year!

"This house has everything, the view, the location and a perfect set- up for a big group. We keep coming back because it's one of the best houses we have rented on the beach."

  • wonderful home away from home

"Everything about our stay was exemplary: communication with the owner, the house itself, and the entire stay. The house easily accomodated six adults, four children, and an infant. Bedrooms are split between three levels so, in our case, children slept downstairs, parents on the main floor, and parents with infant upstairs--we never heard loud children staying up late playing early '90s Nintendo (nice touch!) or middle-of-the-night crying from the 3-month old. The kitchen's generally well equipped (could use a cutting board and one decent chef's knife); proximity to pool is stellar--close enough that it's a accesible, far enough that you don't hear it; beach access is a snap. Lots of beach chairs, a few carts, and umbrellas. And when you're not in the water the covered front porch is the place to be: nice and wide with comfortable furniture. This was the first time we'd been to the area (normally we go to Hilton Head). It definitely has a different vibe: this is a residential town where people actually live. So if you're expecting vacation-type entertainment (miniature golf, lots of restaurants, etc.) you'll be somewhat disappointed. That said, Wilmington is a very close one-day diversion and locals suggested a few good restaurants. This vibe extends to the neighborhood too. You definitely get the feeling people neighbors are going to work in the morning, so you almost feel like you have to walk on eggshells to not disturb them. That said, it also meant during the week the pool and beach off the private entrance are mostly vacant! All in all top-notch house, excellent owner communication, laid-back beach vibe, highly recommend!"
