  • Amazing Week

"Coming back for more! This was our second trip to this home. Instead of one young child we had two now. Even with two, this home still blows us away with the conveniences, accessibility and space. The views are amazing as well! Being familiar with the area now, we really wanted this trip to be a relaxing adventure by the ocean rather then exploring the area. Most mornings were cool, but as soon as we were done with breakfast it was warm enough to go play by the ocean. We had a stretch of incredible weather and were able to swim in the ocean most of the days. We did take the kids to Wilmington one day and toured the Cotton Exchange and were able to walk the boardwalk down by the river. Another day, we were able to explore the aquarium which is a favorite for our children. The remaining days were spent fishing on the beach and making castles in the sand. It was truly an amazing getaway especially stepping away from the cold fall weather of Michigan. Going to this place is always an amazing trip for our family. Can't wait to look at coming back soon."

  • wonderful home away from home

"Everything about our stay was exemplary: communication with the owner, the house itself, and the entire stay. The house easily accomodated six adults, four children, and an infant. Bedrooms are split between three levels so, in our case, children slept downstairs, parents on the main floor, and parents with infant upstairs--we never heard loud children staying up late playing early '90s Nintendo (nice touch!) or middle-of-the-night crying from the 3-month old. The kitchen's generally well equipped (could use a cutting board and one decent chef's knife); proximity to pool is stellar--close enough that it's a accesible, far enough that you don't hear it; beach access is a snap. Lots of beach chairs, a few carts, and umbrellas. And when you're not in the water the covered front porch is the place to be: nice and wide with comfortable furniture. This was the first time we'd been to the area (normally we go to Hilton Head). It definitely has a different vibe: this is a residential town where people actually live. So if you're expecting vacation-type entertainment (miniature golf, lots of restaurants, etc.) you'll be somewhat disappointed. That said, Wilmington is a very close one-day diversion and locals suggested a few good restaurants. This vibe extends to the neighborhood too. You definitely get the feeling people neighbors are going to work in the morning, so you almost feel like you have to walk on eggshells to not disturb them. That said, it also meant during the week the pool and beach off the private entrance are mostly vacant! All in all top-notch house, excellent owner communication, laid-back beach vibe, highly recommend!"

  • family vacation

"What a wonderful week in Kure Beach. 7 adults and a 3-1/2 year old. The house was everything we hoped it would be and more. It is great when the beach house you rented it so much nicer than home! The kitchen was very well stocked with pots and pans, dishes, spices, etc. Huge top of the line washer and dryer. There was a beach cart, coolers, two refrigerators. The beds were very comfortable and ahhhh the sheets! Bikes in the garage. Shower was huge. Lovely view of the ocean from the deck. Very easy walk across the street to the beach. The weather and water were perfect all week. It was our first trip to Kure Beach. There are so many family friendly activities. Please find a calendar and look at all the activities going on at the start of your vacation. Took the ferry to Southport which is a lovely seaside town. If you are a foodie Dinner at Surf House Cafe is a must (reservation!). Went to Wilmington one afternoon, seems like it might be a cool bar scene if you like that sort of thing. I highly recommend the area as well as the house. The owners were great and the house is beyond fabulous. Thank you Joe and Beverly for one of our top beach vacations!"

  • Are you like me...once a year vacation with the family? Make it count!

"Mike and Barbara host a beautiful home. 10 of us slept comfortably with lots of room. Clean, very close to the beach, hardly any traffic and lots to do. We arrived early and the young lady cleaning the house was very accommodating. The restaurants that Mike suggested were fantastic. The ferry to South Port is a must with all the historic film making that happened there. You have to eat at Fishy Fishy!!! Also get the chili mango salt water taffy in the town of South Port....BAM! The Fort Fisher Museum tour is a must as well as the aquarium. Around mid week take off to Wilmington. The battleship, places to eat, Irish pubs and the shops. Take the small boat tour of the river...really cool. Once back to Kure go to the Fort Fisher Rec for lunch at the little diner. What a view. Cool concerts happening at the Rec, Carolina Beach and Kure through the week. Mike and Barbara thank you so much for offering your home to us. LOVED IT! Jeff and Robin ... from "The" Ohio State area..."
