Just as good the second time around
"This was our second ladies mini vacation, and we couldn't have been more pleased. Melanie and Terry are great owners, and their home has all you need for a great stay. The decks facing the ocean afford a great view and when not on the beach, we were quite comfy on the deck. There is great storage for beach chairs and floats (and chairs are provided). There is an enclosed private outdoor shower with hot/cold water--great for showering after riding waves. The beds are comfortable, and there is plenty of room for all to have seating for tv or movies. We cooked our meals and had all we needed in the spacious kitchen. I see a return trip in our future. Thanks to Melanie and Terry for making others so welcome to their home."

"Isn’t it great when go somewhere with very high expectations and then those expectations are exceeded in every way. That was our experience at this property.
Our adult daughter, currently in graduate school in Chapel Hill, called us in September and said that she wanted to spend her fall break with us. How often does that happen? Just me, my wife and our daughter for a long weekend…PERFECT!!!
I immediately checked a map because I know precisely how my daughter defines the perfect vacation: A great balcony overlooking the ocean and immaculately clean accommodations. I chose Topsail for its casual natural beauty and proximity to the Research Triangle area and this property because of its balcony and awesome VRBO reviews.
I realize this was a large unit for three however our daughter has severe allergies to dust and pets and of paramount importance to us was cleanliness. We were not disappointed. The unit was impeccably clean and our daughter had absolutely no allergies during our stay. This is rare for her.
The balcony was fantastic and we spent most of our time there. My wife and I loved watching the sunrises every morning with sweatshirts and coffee. Daybreak over the ocean is an incredible experience. The bird life and marine life that can be observed from this perfectly positioned deck are awesome. We regularly watched dolphins cruise by and even spotted a whale and whale spout. Evenings found us on the deck with a glass of wine at dusk and then locating constellations at night. The deck is beyond awesome. The pictures do not do it justice.
We brought our bikes and loved biking up and down the rarely traveled bay front roads not far from our unit and we biked up and down the ocean front road as well. A bike ride to the pier was a highlight. We were glad we brought them.
Although prior to leaving we made some preliminary cool restaurant choices we never ate out even once. The kitchen was very well equipped and has a fantastic ocean view. So, some quick shopping at a close by (12min) Harris Teeter and we were set. Fun cooking, dinner on the balcony overlooking the ocean…..wish we were still there.
The unit has a large inventory of DVD’s so we had a great time with a movie each night. (Catch Me If You Can and then, the next night, a chick-flick I ignored…thankfully the unit has great wifi…).
We were extremely pleased with everything about our mini-vacation and will be renting this property again."

"Depending on the year 5 to 8 women have stayed in this home for the last three years. It is a fabulous property. Everything is well maintained, nicely decorated, comfortable and the kitchen is amazing. The beach is right out the back door with a great pool if you don't want to swim in the ocean. You can see both sunrise and sunset from the many porches. We plan to come back for many more years. Thanks for the taking care of everything and welcoming us each year."

"Our family (6 adults, 1 toddler and 1 infant) arrived just as Hurricane Joaquin went east out to sea. Not a great start to vacation-- but this home was IMMACULATE, and perfect for us. It is obvious that the owners make every effort to provide a wonderful home. David cleaned the pool midweek(at least once) and also washed all our windows after the storm subsided. They even provide a clothes basket in each closet.
This was our first trip to Topsail-- we usually go to SC beaches. We chose this home because it was a beachfront property and it had a pool. Having 4 king beds was a definite plus. The jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom was so relaxing-- and had its own hot water tank.
The property has lots of steps, but they didn't seem exhausting. Our 2 1/2 year old grandson handled them easily. The elevator was great for groceries and luggage.
Pool/beach toys included pails and sifters, sturdy shovels, castle molds, 4 boogie boards, small rafts, swim noodles. Also provided: beach towels, 2 umbrellas, and beach chairs. Our young grandson loved the pool and thought the warm shower outside was a special treat.
The beach had lots of shells-- don't know if this is typical or result of "super moon" the previous weekend and recent storm. If you hunt fossilized sharks teeth, you will love low tide here. (To determine shell vs tooth, Teeth are black and absolutely cannot be broken).
If you plan to go out for dinner--we went down to Surf City--go early if you have young children. There are not lots of places to dine; we usually cooked ourselves.
On one rainy day we went to Wilmington--found some great fabric shops. We did not get to the USS North Carolina this trip.
We can't really say enough about David and Sharon--they were so helpful!
Hope to return next fall-- in better weather."
