  • Vacation Rental with so many extras!

"Staying at the Richards Cottage was a great experience. As you can see from the pictures, the house is nicely decorated which gives it a cozy and comfortable feel. The living space is conducive to a bigger group because there are two sitting with a TV and another with seating for 4 or 5 and a game table. Also, there are two dining tables (one off the kitchen and one on the screened porch ). The front porch was a favorite spot for our group. With palm trees all around, a wonderful hammock and comfortable rockers, the porch was a hard spot to leave! The kitchen is also the best we've encountered after 15 years of beach rentals. Top end appliances (i.e a great blender, a quiet dishwasher and a big frig with ice maker) and lots of great bowls and utensils made dinner prep so much easier than in years past. Also, there were many staples (i.e. sugar, spices, oil, ect) already at the house when we arrived. Of course we had to replace a few of the items during our stay but it was nice to start the week with a few of the essentials. Our group found the bedrooms on the 1st and 2nd floors comfortable. However, the basement bedroom was not a hit with our group. If you have any fishermen in your group, we recommend Captain Jot. If you google Captain Jot in Wrightsville Beach you will easily find it. He's a really nice guy and definitely knows the hot spots for fishing. Our guys caught enough fish to feed our group for two nights!! Also, the ladies in our group rented stand up paddle boards from the Aussie Island Surf Shop (1 North Lumina...on the corner across from Wings). The guys at the shop helped us across the street with our boards and gave us a quick lesson before we started paddling. The cost was only $15 for 1 1/2 hours....which we thought was a bargain!! Also, If anyone in your group wants to learn to skim board, the surf shop connected us with a skim board instructor ($15 for an hour and he came right to the beach in front of the house). You will love this house, it's location, and all the fun things to do at Wrightsville Beach."

  • Oceanside Paradise

"This is the 3rd Spring I have stayed in this rental property when visiting my son at UNCW. It's the best rental I have stayed in, and that's why we keep coming back. It is clean, nicely decorated, comfortable and in the best location. The owner is wonderful to work with, very responsive, and the relatives upstairs are so kind and helpful. It makes all the difference. I may just have to come back, even after my son has graduated!"

  • Dream Vacation Condo...Literally

"My wife, daughter, and I have stayed here several times. We absolutely love it!! The condo is tastefully decorated/furnished and well equipped. Location is perfect...walking distance to restaurants, shops, entertainment, etc but far enough away to have peace and quiet. The sunsets and waterviews are SO amazing. You can either relax and do nothing or enjoy the great surfbreak out front, run the "loop", rent bikes or a SUP from Aussie Island just around the corner, fish right off the dock or in the surf (shh dont tell but the bite is really good off the dock), and the list goes on."

  • Location, location , location

"I would highly recommend this beach house. Besides the location the porch is fabulous. We ate every meal out on the porch while looking at the beach. The kitchen was well stocked with all equipment needed. We had a problem with the port-a-crib and the owner told us to rent one and he would reimburse us. The owner was very easy to work with."

Wrightsville Beach Travel Tips

Nestled into North Carolina's New Hanover County is the lovely little town of Wrightsville Beach, boasting 4 miles of sandy island.

Luckily, Wrightsville Beach is the state's the most accessible and filled with a variety of outdoor activities to enjoy. With such an amazing climate and gorgeous natural views, you'll want to spend as much time as you can soaking up the sun's rays. It's a great spot for for endless family fun, especially if you love water sports like kayaking, kite-boarding and surfing. In between the adventures and exploring, take some time to relax as you gaze out across the shimmering waters or cast a line and hope for a bite.

Wrightsville Beach provides all the charm and welcoming atmosphere of a small town, but still offers tons of city-style cultural experiences. There's a lovely mix of history and modernity here that will leave you with happy memories of your North Carolina getaway.

Things to Do in Wrightsville Beach

- Wrightsville Beach Museum of History: Step back in time as you cross the threshold of the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History and experience the progression of the town through the years. The museum is housed in a turn-of-the-century Myers Cottage. Inside you'll find a cool scale model of Wrightsville Beach circa 1910 as well as exhibits depicting the early days of the town, hurricane history and how the interaction between the people of Wrightsville Beach and nature shaped the 100 years of history here. See exhibits such as "The History of the Bathing Suit," which is a collection of vintage advertisements, and the "Wish You Were Here!" postcard exhibit. The museum was designed to display how a typical life was on the beach in this community, and the best part is that admission to the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History is free.

- Johnnie Mercer's Pier: If you enjoy a morning or afternoon of fishing, then you should definitely spend some at Johnnie Mercer's Pier, which is one of the best fishing spots around. It extends more than 1,200 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, so there's plenty of space for fishermen. The pier was named after John "Johnnie" Mercer, an American lyricist, songwriter and singer from the mid-1930s through the mid-1950s. Mercer wrote more than 1,500 songs and received several awards. he was also a co-founder of Capitol Records. Now you can head to his pier with your tackle box, grab your favorite lure and hope for a bite or two.

- Carolina School of Surf: If you've wanted to learn how to hang 10 and catch a wave, book a lesson at the Carolina School of Surf at Wrightsville Beach. You'll learn the basics and then you can impress your travel companions with your newfound skills on the water.

This home-grown establishment is beloved by its loyal customers who enjoy dining both inside as well as on the front deck and lawn. It's a great place to relax and enjoy each other's company as much as the food. Try the omelets, wraps or waffles to start the day off right.
