  • Clean, comfortable cottage on peaceful, relaxing Oak Island NC

"We had a great time and enjoyed the cottage. It was very clean and has everything that you need. The pictures and descriptions were spot on, so there were no surprises when we arrived, which was very nice. The owners were prompt with communications before, during and after the booking process. Since the cottage was in great shape, we had no need to contact them while we were there. Owners also allowed us to bring our dogs and they really enjoyed the beaches. Oak Island is a hidden jewel if you are looking for a nice relaxing beach getaway. Beach access and parking is plentiful, even in tourist season and the beaches are very nice."

  • No better Place

"There were 8 adults and 5 children and there was plenty of room for everyone. We have stayed in similar houses there and this is by far the best ever. It is fully stocked and all the pictures are true to the image. Everything was very clean and well maintained. I definitely vote to stay here from here on out! Beds were comfortable. There was plenty of room for everyone. There was also plenty of parking for our 5 SUV/Pickup/Van(s). Quick walk to the beach couldn't ask for anything better. Thank's for the great get away home!!!!!"

  • Great condo!

"We highly recommend this condo! It was perfect for our family of 6 (ages 4-10). It was clean and very comfortable. The owners were pleasant to work with. They allow renters to use their storage room with beach "goodies" so that you have less to pack! The beach and pool were very close, the condo on the same side as the ocean. That was important to us. We also enjoyed being on the west side of the island where the condo is located. It seemed quieter and less "busy." Overall, we had a great time. We only wish we could have stayed longer."

  • Would stay here again in a heartbeat...

"From the ease of checking in, to the owner taking care of some forgotten clothes (my fault!) and to everything in-between, we had nothing but a very positive experience. It is wonderful not having to go somewhere and have to wait in line for a key. Susan emails the code to you so all you need is go right to your condo and begin your fun. She is easy to work with and everything was so easy to do. The condo is beautiful. I seriously felt right at home and could have moved in there to stay! It was clean, more than tastefully decorated, and the screened in porch is wonderful. I opened and closed my days on that porch! We loved having the lock-out feature for our 19 year old and 22 year old. They loved having their "own place". It was so very quiet and peaceful. I can't speak to the Activity Center, although it did look lovely from the outside. We spent our days at the beach. It takes just a few minutes to drive to the beach. We had a friends' house to park at, so can't speak to the ease of public parking. The area is so nice. You are so close to everything and North Myrtle is only about 20 minutes or so away. I can't speak enough, though, to renting from Susan. She went way beyond making sure our stay was wonderful. She returned our deposit promptly, in fact I don't even think we were home yet! :) She even took care of a situation with some clothes I left with such kindness. I have stayed a lot of places, but I honestly can say that this is one of the most comfortable stays I have had and I would definitely go back!"

Wrightsville Beach Travel Tips

Nestled into North Carolina's New Hanover County is the lovely little town of Wrightsville Beach, boasting 4 miles of sandy island.

Luckily, Wrightsville Beach is the state's the most accessible and filled with a variety of outdoor activities to enjoy. With such an amazing climate and gorgeous natural views, you'll want to spend as much time as you can soaking up the sun's rays. It's a great spot for for endless family fun, especially if you love water sports like kayaking, kite-boarding and surfing. In between the adventures and exploring, take some time to relax as you gaze out across the shimmering waters or cast a line and hope for a bite.

Wrightsville Beach provides all the charm and welcoming atmosphere of a small town, but still offers tons of city-style cultural experiences. There's a lovely mix of history and modernity here that will leave you with happy memories of your North Carolina getaway.

Things to Do in Wrightsville Beach

- Wrightsville Beach Museum of History: Step back in time as you cross the threshold of the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History and experience the progression of the town through the years. The museum is housed in a turn-of-the-century Myers Cottage. Inside you'll find a cool scale model of Wrightsville Beach circa 1910 as well as exhibits depicting the early days of the town, hurricane history and how the interaction between the people of Wrightsville Beach and nature shaped the 100 years of history here. See exhibits such as "The History of the Bathing Suit," which is a collection of vintage advertisements, and the "Wish You Were Here!" postcard exhibit. The museum was designed to display how a typical life was on the beach in this community, and the best part is that admission to the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History is free.

- Johnnie Mercer's Pier: If you enjoy a morning or afternoon of fishing, then you should definitely spend some at Johnnie Mercer's Pier, which is one of the best fishing spots around. It extends more than 1,200 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, so there's plenty of space for fishermen. The pier was named after John "Johnnie" Mercer, an American lyricist, songwriter and singer from the mid-1930s through the mid-1950s. Mercer wrote more than 1,500 songs and received several awards. he was also a co-founder of Capitol Records. Now you can head to his pier with your tackle box, grab your favorite lure and hope for a bite or two.

- Carolina School of Surf: If you've wanted to learn how to hang 10 and catch a wave, book a lesson at the Carolina School of Surf at Wrightsville Beach. They specialize in surf camps and private lessons, which are great for beginners. All instructors are first aid and CPR certified. You'll learn the basics and then you can impress your travel companions with your newfound skills on the water.
