  • Awesome Family Vacation!

"This home is huge and accommodated 23 of us comfortably! Everyone had their own bedroom and bath which allowed privacy if you wanted to get away from all the commotion in the huge family room/kitchen/dining room that was the entire 4th floor. The kitchen was very well equipped. We cooked in every night and there was not one thing that we couldn't find the size of pan/bowls, etc. we needed! There was also many spices left behind and we actually would not have had to bring ours. It was a little difficult for the stand alone ice machine to keep up even with the ice maker in the refrigerator being used too. There is only one large refrigerator in the kitchen and a very small one on the 2nd floor and that was a problem at times but the 2 dishwashers, two sinks and all the rest were great! The house was very clean! The trash was a little problem. Pickup is on Monday and we arrived on Saturday. All trash cans were full and at the end of the driveway. We had to just put our trash bags in the carport area till pick up on Monday. Then we brought all 5 of the huge receptacles up to the house and they smelled to bad we had to sit them out to the side of the house. When we needed to put a bag in them...it about gagged you to open the lid...we made the kids take the trash down! LOL I guess I would suggest cleaning the cans more often. One issue that was a little bit of a problem was trying decide how to divide the cost. There is not floor plan on the website and even tho there is a detailed description, the cost of each bedroom varies greatly because of location, size and amenities. (if anyone wants to contact me for an explanation of how we did it...Lisa can give you my information). We actually adjusted some of the prices when we got there and saw the difference in the rooms. The other thing I will mention is linens. We purchased the package thru Lisa but it was NOT worth the cost. The bed linens were poor quality and there was one set of towels per person which was not enough without daily laundry. I would suggest taking your own since the cost is considerable! The beach is across the street which was a concern because of the kids but we worked it all out. The beach is private and it was so nice to not have to worry about seeing your kids in a crowd like at Myrtle Beach. The beach was beautiful, the view from all the balconies were all fabulous. Lisa was great to work with...we had a few safety issues that were handled immediately! I would rent this home again"

  • Beautiful home

"This home has so many great features. So much attention to details throughout the property. Offers plenty of room for large families to spread out and enjoy without being crowded. Great views from the decks, swimming pool and hot tub are well maintained. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing beach getaway."

  • Wonderful stay in every way

"I am not even sure how many times we have visited but as always everything was wonderful. Saw dolphins 2 days. We loved the changes in the bathrooms and new furniture on the balcony. Met a very nice couple from Ohio (but everyone is always super nice). Luckily we were there at just the right time weather wise. It is still the best beach I know of."

Wrightsville Beach Travel Tips

Nestled into North Carolina's New Hanover County is the lovely little town of Wrightsville Beach, boasting 4 miles of sandy island.

Luckily, Wrightsville Beach is the state's the most accessible and filled with a variety of outdoor activities to enjoy. With such an amazing climate and gorgeous natural views, you'll want to spend as much time as you can soaking up the sun's rays. It's a great spot for for endless family fun, especially if you love water sports like kayaking, kite-boarding and surfing. In between the adventures and exploring, take some time to relax as you gaze out across the shimmering waters or cast a line and hope for a bite.

Wrightsville Beach provides all the charm and welcoming atmosphere of a small town, but still offers tons of city-style cultural experiences. There's a lovely mix of history and modernity here that will leave you with happy memories of your North Carolina getaway.

Things to Do in Wrightsville Beach

- Wrightsville Beach Museum of History: Step back in time as you cross the threshold of the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History and experience the progression of the town through the years. The museum is housed in a turn-of-the-century Myers Cottage. Inside you'll find a cool scale model of Wrightsville Beach circa 1910 as well as exhibits depicting the early days of the town, hurricane history and how the interaction between the people of Wrightsville Beach and nature shaped the 100 years of history here. See exhibits such as "The History of the Bathing Suit," which is a collection of vintage advertisements, and the "Wish You Were Here!" postcard exhibit. The museum was designed to display how a typical life was on the beach in this community, and the best part is that admission to the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History is free.

- Johnnie Mercer's Pier: If you enjoy a morning or afternoon of fishing, then you should definitely spend some at Johnnie Mercer's Pier, which is one of the best fishing spots around. It extends more than 1,200 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, so there's plenty of space for fishermen. The pier was named after John "Johnnie" Mercer, an American lyricist, songwriter and singer from the mid-1930s through the mid-1950s. Mercer wrote more than 1,500 songs and received several awards. he was also a co-founder of Capitol Records. Now you can head to his pier with your tackle box, grab your favorite lure and hope for a bite or two.

- Carolina School of Surf: If you've wanted to learn how to hang 10 and catch a wave, book a lesson at the Carolina School of Surf at Wrightsville Beach. They specialize in surf camps and private lessons, which are great for beginners. All instructors are first aid and CPR certified. You'll learn the basics and then you can impress your travel companions with your newfound skills on the water.

- Wrightsville Beach Farmers Market: If you've traveling in the summer months be sure to stop by the Wrightsville Beach Farmers Market, where you can peruse locally grown produce as well as handcrafted wares. There are a variety of vendors, and you can pick up fresh fruits and veggies, bakery treats, photography, art and plenty more. The market is held every Monday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from the first Monday in May through Labor Day.

Dining in Wrightsville Beach

- Causeway Cafe: For a delicious breakfast or lunch, head to Causeway Cafe, which is frequented by both locals and visitors. This home-grown establishment is beloved by its loyal customers who enjoy dining both inside as well as on the front deck and lawn. It's a great place to relax and enjoy each other's company as much as the food. Try the omelets, wraps or waffles to start the day off right.

- Oceanic Restaurant: If you're looking for a dining experience with a view, then Oceanic is your spot. Enjoy a scrumptious meal of salad, fresh seafood or tasty chicken or steak as you take in the stunning vistas. Attached to the restaurant is Crystal Pier where you can dine outdoors and listen to live music when the weather permits.

- Buddy's Crabhouse & Oyster Bar: This beach dive bar is the perfect spot to visit if you've craving some serious seafood. The atmosphere is casual, and they're known for rum and specialty drinks, so you know you're in for a fun night out here. Buddy's is uniquely decorated with thousands of dollar bills all over the walls and ceilings, giving an eclectic and fun feel.
