  • Perfect Escape

"Our entire family visited Paradise Cove to reconnect and just be together after a family member returned from a recent deployment to Afghanistan. The rental property was quiet and peaceful and there was plenty for the kids to do. There was tons of room - not once did we feel crowded or uncomfortable during our stay. We mostly spent our time on the water either kayaking, using the pedal boat, fishing, or just floating. There were so many nice touches and the house had pretty much anything you would need. If there was something you forgot or needed, there were stores relatively close. The neighbors were friendly too!"

  • Lovely, Lots of Fun , Loved

"A couple of friends and I rented this home for a girls weekend away. The "cottage" is charming. Imagine Cape Cod meets rustic. We loved it! The views of the lake were gorgeous along with the sunrises each morning. The beds were comfy and since we were there to watch movies, grab a little sun and eat I would be remiss not to comment on the comfy living area which was perfect for indulging in those movies. If you have 3 or an entire family there is no problem accommodating everyone for sleeping or viewing as there are ample bedding, TV's and seating. There is an enormous 2 level dock in very good condition with plenty of chairs for just being. We enjoyed coffee on the deck and played games there as well. Now the kitchen- I love to cook and you can tell that the owner does as well. If that's your thing this going to be a treat. Caphalon pots/pans; heavy duty mixing bowls, lots of glasses..yep-it was fun. Probably one of things we enjoyed the most was that we felt like a welcome guest. We enjoyed the family photos and built our own stories around them. recipes (handwritten) in the kitchen, artwork on the walls and the whimsical kitchen/living area all testimony that this placed is beloved. Thanks so much for sharing, The Purple Pansies!"

  • Seriously the Best Family Vacation Ever

"As a grandmother of seven grandchildren - 6 of them 4 years old and under, I was very apprehensive about going anywhere near any water for a vacation this year. Historically we would have gone to an ocean beach. I let my daughters know how nervous I was about all those little people being around the ocean and one of them suggested a lake house. I have never been to a lake house before. What an enjoyable, relaxing vacation! The little people could play in the water while the adults relaxed on their chairs and very little hands-on was required. The grassy area from the house to the lakefront was so much nicer than all the sand! We played all kinds of games there. There were small fish and a turtle came by one day for entertainment. I caught four fish IN A CHILD'S NET! We played duck-duck goose, croquet, play-doh, magnatiles, scrabble and made homemade ice cream. We rented a pontoon boat one day. We used the kayaks daily and the paddleboat. In addition, the Lake Gaston bird farm with about 100 species of birds and other farm animals is within walking distance. The kids loved it. Farmer Dick was really good with the little ones. The Ward's home was equipped with everything we needed to cook. The setup was great and handled my two daughters' families and I quite nicely. Underneath my bedroom suite is an outdoor "den" with a TV that we never even turned on. We spent most of our time there. The place was incredible. There seriously was nothing that we said, "I wish I would have brought, xxx." Eloise and Rick answered all our questions prior to arrival - they have sliced off a little piece of heaven. We will be back! I have already referred this place and provided contact information for some folks who are excited to check it out!"

  • Excellent Family Vacation

"My family stayed at Summer Breeze on our recent vacation to Lake Gaston. We were looking for relaxed vacation setting where we could spend a week to unwind and enjoy the benefits of a lakefront home. Summer Breeze met all of our expectations and provided us with a great vacation experience. The house is very spacious with three bedrooms upstairs and two more downstairs. It has a dated decor, but is very functional with two large kitchens, dining area, large living and rec room areas, and a huge deck in the rear. The kitchens (2) were well stocked and have mostly new appliances which were easy to use. The bedrooms were large and equipped to sleep a lot of people. We have a family of five and were able to have our children stay in two bedrooms while we stayed in the master all on the same floor. The master has an updated full bath and the other upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom through connected doors. As stated earlier the house is very functional. The lot, yard, pool and hot tub really make this home an excellent choice for a vacation. The house is located in the pea hill creek section about 3.5 miles from the dam. The location provides excellent access to the lake, with many places to sit and enjoy the view. We rented a boat and enjoyed water sports and cruising the lake with convenient parking in the home's boat house. When we weren't enjoying the lake we enjoyed the many other amenities in the yard, including the pool (which our three small children loved), hot tub, fire pit and horse shoe playing area. The neighborhood is very quiet and the many trees on the lot offer much privacy! Overall our family had a wonderful vacation and would recommend Summer Breeze to anyone looking to enjoy some time in Lake Gaston."
