  • Great place on the river!

"Great place to stay. Clean and yard well groomed. We have been fishing at Weldon for the past 10 years and this is by far the best place we have found to stay at. Michael is a great guy and we will be back next year."

  • We didn't want to leave!

"My husband and I stayed in this beautiful, eclectic, light-filled pied-à-terre 4 nights while we were waiting to move into our town home in Uptown Charlotte. I chose this vacation rental because I wanted an historic property that had a lot of character but wasn't stuffy - also one that would appeal to our 30 year old son, who was flying in from Texas to surprise my husband on his birthday (the day after we arrived). This property is every bit as wonderful as the images portray it - a visual feast of color, texture, light and sound. Yes, when we arrived there was classical music playing softly in the background, the lights were on and the bar-cart was set up a-la Madmen with scotch and vodka and gin-filled decanters. Jim had left a lot of goodies out for us, including nuts and snacks and cookies, pasta and marinara from Trader Joe's. Because our son was going to arrive at the vacation rental while my husband and I were out, Jim made sure he had a key to key to get in. I remember getting a text from our son after he arrived saying, "This place is awesome!!!" The interior design is so amazing, but there are certain elements that stand out in memory - the paintings by a local artist that remind me of Basquiat, the chandelier above the dining table, the dining table itself (I believe it is a Salterini), the cozy little sun room overlooking big trees, the French settee, the Phillipe Stark ghost chairs and the very well-equipped kitchen. We ate breakfast there every day and every evening we had drinks before and after dinner. The experience of being there as a family was a great birthday gift for my husband - something we all enjoyed immensely."

  • Perfect for Family Reunion!

"We had a family reunion and it was my responsibility to find an appropriate place for 8 to sleep, 14 to dine at one table and for all 14 to comfortably "hang out" during the day for 4 days. Needless to say I was VERY nervous about finding such a place and seriously thought it would be an arduous if not mpossible undertaking. Well low and behold l did! Bill and Lisa's place is awesome! We had all 14 dining at one table and the spacious gathering room was a wonderful space to celebrate our precious time together. As an aside I am a corporate trainer and I think this would be a fantastic place for a company retreat. We will be back!"

  • Wonderful week at the lake!

"Our family of 5 had a great relaxing week at the lake. This home was located in a quiet cove where we enjoyed seeing heron, egrets, and bald eagles, swimming off the dock and catching catfish at night. My two high school boys and college son enjoyed the two kayaks and our family loved the pontoon boat. We fished many coves around the lake catching large mouth bass, white bass and bream and just enjoyed sightseeing too. The largest bass we caught was 5 pounds! The house was great! It was very clean and well maintained. I appreciated the linens and towels plus trash bags and paper products being provided. Meant that we did not have to bring as much stuff with us. We all enjoyed shooting pool and playing ping pong downstairs and had plenty of room to spread out too. The kitchen was well equipped and laid out great. It was nice to have an extra refrigerator downstairs too. The house has a very new efficient washer and dryer that made it possible to come home with clean clothes! John the owner was very easy to deal with and available to answer all questions before we arrived and after. We also took a side trip into Asheboro to visit the zoo and had a great time there. My husband and sons played the Old North State Golf Course with a family friend which was a treat too. We went to the Badin Lake Restaurant one morning for great pancakes, omlettes and french toast. A nice family diner style restaurant. Can't wait to go back!"
