  • Great memories

"We were looking for a place on a lake convenient to our families in Chapel Hill, Winston Salem and Charlotte to get together for a few days. This beautiful place more than served our needs. We were a large group - up to 14 a couple of nights, with 7 grandchildren, ages 2 to 16, and parents and there was ample space for all. The home is beautiful furnished, with large spaces, a large kitchen, large dining room table, and a screened porch with beautiful views of the lake and sunrise, which my husband I enjoyed each morning with our coffee. The tranquil lake was wonderful for the children and grandchildren to canoe and kayak around (with a canoe from the house, and kayaks we were able to rent locally. Close to Uwharrie National Forest, some of us hiked a couple of days, while others stayed and even swam in the lake. Oh, and did I say that when we were there the dogwoods on the property were in full bloom? Absolutely gorgeous! The hosts are to be commended for the graciousness and welcoming atmosphere of their lovely home which contributed to some beautiful family memories."

  • A Week in Paradise (Our Summer Vacation at the Blue Heron Lodge)

"Our family, ranging in ages from 3-months to 70-years, enjoyed a most relaxing week at the Blue Heron Lodge. The house is amazing. Because our family enjoys great food, the kitchen was most important to us - and it served us well. The multiple decks surrounding the house provided a variety of areas to relax, have conversations, and enjoy the sun. Lizard Creek was nearly a private lake for most of the week - we rarely saw other boats in the waters surrounding the lodge until after noon on Friday. Access to boat lifts for both our boat and jet ski was a welcome bonus. The available canoe, life jackets, and fishing gear were much appreciated. Though we spent the majority of our time in Lizard Creek, Lake Gaston provides unlimited opportuities for boating, site seeing, fishing and other water related activities. We enjoyed easy access to fuel for our boats, a full service marina, grocery stores and restaurants. The Pointe Cafe had both great food and live entertainment. Our family is already in the planning stages for our next visit to the lodge in the summer of 2015. Thank-you to the Gray Family for providing us with the opportunity to enjoy their home for our Summer Vacation."

  • Beautiful Lake home

"Lake Norman is a perfect halfway point for my family and our family from Pennsylvania, this vacation included 18 of our family and friends. Lakeside Lodge fit us all very comfortably and has that Lodge feel that we were looking for on our lake vacation. We plan to come back in the near future and highly recommend thus beautiful home for all. The owners were great to work with and quick to answer all of my questions!"

  • A fabulous visit to Charlotte!

"We were 4 adults and 1 child, and the foundation of our great visit to Charlotte was this apartment. We were greeted with a welcome package on the kitchen counter, wine in the fridge, and classical music on the stereo. We checked in with Jim by text, who responded immediately even thought it was late, and got ourselves to bed. The apartment is spectacular: beautifully decorated and with all mod cons. How refreshing to be able to do laundry as and when on vacation! I have one reservation: we had a 7-year-old with us, and there wasn't much for her to do - our fault, not Jim's - but there isn't outdoor space for running around. Having said that, I would stay here again in an instant and hope I get another excuse to go to Charlotte soon."
