"This is a beautiful new home, located inside a private golf community between Waynesville and Sylva. The community, Balsam Mountain Preserve, is over 4,000 acres in size, but only about a third of it will be developed. The rest is set aside as a permanent nature preserve, and the result is you feel as if you are in a state park surrounded by lush green forest. The home was nicely furnished, and was exactly as we expected it to be. It is immaculately maintained, very clean and very well kept. The floor plan is perfect for family entertaining, especially the upstairs. The screened porch off the family room is awesome, it even comes with a stone fireplace. There are so many details that make the home feel very upscale - lots of wood paneling on the walls and ceilings, antique looking hardwood floors, the home looks and feels like a million dollar residence. The community has a beautiful golf course and other amenities like a pool, tennis courts, restaurant, etc., but it is for members only. You may be able to utilize some of them by paying extra, each renter will be considered on a case-by-case basis depending on the time of year. It's no problem if the amenities are not available to you, though, because there is so much to do and see in the local area. Waynesville and Sylva are wonderful small towns with a wealth of great restaurants, antique shops, art galleries, etc. Cherokee has all kinds of great family activities, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is only 5 minutes from the community's staffed gatehouse. Then there's Asheville, which is only about 40 minutes away. All in all, this is well worth the price, I can't imagine anyone being dissapointed with the experience of renting and enjoying this home."Guest: Allan F. "The Mountain Landing was clean, well maintained, and everything we needed for our time away! How sad that the adjoining owners do not feel the need to maintain their properties! We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, the well-equipped kitchen, and the closeness to Soco Rd. Our poodle felt right at home! Thanks so much for allowing others to enjoy your special place! "It was only two of us and our dog and we had more room than we knew what to do with. Very spacious cabin with a bathroom for each bedroom(3). Kids would love it here. This place had a perfect view with a hot tub sitting out on the wrap around porch. It was clean,QUIET and tastefully decorated. It is 4000 feet high and what a view! We were here for a month and left just before winter set in, but I would imagine the long winding driveway could be a challenge driving up during frost and snow. However, we had a medical emergency and an ambulance and firetruck made it up to the cabin very quickly (and at night) without a problem. Even though the cabin is isolated it is only a 7 minute drive to downtown Maggie Valley and about 15 minutes to lovely downtown Waynesville. It is about 45 minutes to Asheville. We ate outside nearly every night at the picnic table after cooking our food on the gas grill. Then we enjoyed relaxing in the rocking chairs and caught up on our reading. We sipped wine and watched some beautiful sunsets and gorgeous sunrises. We went exploring in the nearby woods and sure were glad we brought some hiking shoes. The cabin is completely furnished, just bring your food. There is NO wi-fi here so we went to town and checked our e-mail while having coffee at one of the many excellent restaurants. The only concern I have is in a couple of more years the spectacular views might be blocked by the fast growing trees and shrubbery unless some trimming is done. We had a marvelous time here. The nearby towns are just big enough to provide some great entertainment and we ate at around 20 different restaurants during our stay, most of which were excellent! We cannot wait to return:)"Guest: Spike Date of Stay: September 2013 Review Submitted: January 23, 2014View listing
"We had a wonderful time at this cabin! It was so beautiful and private - just what we were looking for. Even the driveway leading up to the cabin was beautiful! I have to admit, I was a little nervous about there being no AC (I don't really enjoy being hot), but we were there over the 4th of July weekend and it couldn't have been better. We all stayed plenty cool with the fans and by opening the windows. The cabin is so high up too, so it really wasn't an issue at all. It's fun to say we stayed "off-the-grid", even though all the amenities we needed were there. The wrap-around deck was my favorite part by far. We will definitely stay here again!"Guest: lindsay e.
