  • Great for Elderly or Handicapped Folks

"I have no hesitation in recommending this cabin to anyone. My longtime friend and I (both 84) had a wonderful reunion here in early fall. I use a walker and had no trouble getting around the cabin and its parking area. There are a few steps to get in, but sturdy railings facilitated my entry. I felt safe in the shower thanks to well-placed handlebars and a shower mat in the tub. The cabin is well equipped and well maintained. The kitchen lacked only a can opener and whisk for meeting our needs -- a lack that I am sure the owners will quickly fill. The location in dense forest adjoining a brook is ideal. In short, we had a great week."

  • Restful and beautiful

"We met for a family gathering over Labor Day. Having read all the reviews, I could tell this was going to be a special place for our family, we wanted a quiet place to just be together, play games, laugh and eat. We needed a place that would also accomodate my grown children/ wives, pre-school grandchildren, and also be pet friendly. Wicklow fulfilled all of these. Owner has specifics regarding check in, check out, children and pets none of the guidelines are unreasonable, but really common curtesy. It is a shame that people really have to have these spelled out. It was marvelous to have two living rooms because the family with pre-schoolers really could have special time. We never felt crowded or on top of each other with 3 family units all together in the house. Make sure you take bug spray, the knats were wicked but property is surrounded by little ponds. It was a magical weekend, hope we can come again in the future. Come prepared to cook, kitchen is well appointed because the area is quite rural. Food shopping is close by and very good. Loved making s'mores at the fire many memories."

  • Beautiful, Quiet, Secluded Cabin

"We really enjoyed our stay at this cozy little cabin. It is clean, comfortable, and has a top-of-the-line hot tub! There are lots of comfortable places to sit, and the pleasantly noisy creek is great on the porch or indoors with the windows open. The large, flat-panel TV is great for watching movies. All the details are taken care of. The furnishing and the cabin itself are beautiful, and the cabin fits so well into the natural surroundings. You couldn't hear anything at all except the crickets, birds and creek. The owner of the cabin doesn't advertise the trails in her listing, so this is not a criticism of the cabin at all - more a general tip - but the trails (that start right across from the driveway) are rough and not well maintained. They were EXTREMELY steep and slippery in several places (no switchbacks on steep sections, etc.). Many of the directional signs are lying on the ground. We are experienced hikers, and these are not trails I'd like to take again. Again, this is part of the neighborhood, and is not the responsibility of this cabin owner. A wonderful weekend - we will be back!"

  • October get away

"Thank you Dave and Caroline for allowing us to spend a few day at your cabin in Andrews N.C. We had a marvelous time, including just staying close to the sounds of Collette Creek running near the cabin. The only suggestion I would have, is to furnish some kind of fueled lantern / candles, for when the power goes out. We had a serious storm come through the county and a power line was knocked down at Junaluska and Pisgah Rds and power was out for about 2 hours. Luckily it was in the day time but it could possibly happen at night. It rained for (2) days, so we spent some quality time with close friends and played games. Did "smores" at the fire pit one of the dry nights. Good times enjoyed by all. Thanks again, Bob and Donna Frost"
