  • The Poderosa Christmas

"We really enjoyed our stay at your cabin. It was very remote which is just what we needed. Did not want to venture out much do to the rough road. We spent a lot of time playing pool and just being together as a family which is hard to do with the hustle and bustle of daily life. There were a couple of items I thought would have been at the cabin based upon experiences we have had at other places. Toilet paper and soap only in the downstairs bathroom. Looked for firewood outside the cabin and could not find any. Maybe that is just because of the remote area. My suggestion would be to let everyone know the BYO items. Our dog loved the fenced in area very much once we found it. She had us going all through the woods just to find a spot to do her business. Lol When we arrived it was dark outside and could not see it. Overall we all enjoyed your place and it made for a great Christmas away from home. Thank you From the Miller Family"

  • Having fun at the Asheville rental.

"We had a great time. This home was clean and we felt so welcome. My grandchildren ages four and six loved the big back yard with their new dog the rescued recently. We enjoyed splash park in Asheville and went horse back riding among other sights. Most importantly we enjoyed being together with our daughters (son in law) and the grandchildren. So very happy I found this site on the internet. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone."

  • Beary Good

"This home away from home was perfect for our family of 5. All three kids (12, 11, 9) loved the house and surroundings. They had their own loft up the spiral staircase while we had a master suite downstairs. Plenty of room to play games. The kitchen is well stocked with numerous pots and pans as well as some spices to keep the flavor coming. We relaxed in the hammock, flew a kite, and even spotted a bear here and there. It is conveniently located to the Parkway and downtown but you are in your own private retreat. This place was awesome."

  • Serene, Cozy, Romantic = Perfect.

"We really loved our stay here. Just what we needed to recharge a bit and enjoy the mountains and each other on our anniversary. Wish we could have stayed longer. It really is close to downtown Asheville, but feels like it's away from everything. Even with the leaves fallen, it's pretty private. And the view is astounding. I can't imagine you're going to find a better cabin situation than this one, and thankfully, the decor is not the cheesy "bears & quilts" stuff you find in a lot of places. It's kinda "modern rustic," and none of it feels like 15 year old rejects that came from the owner's personal house (you know what I'm talking about). The cabin is very clean. Dishes are quality. The bed and sheets were amazing. The fireplace and hot tub were so worth the extra $. The manager, Brea, was great, too. Only downside I suppose is the drive up and down the mountain. It's a really steep haul without many switchbacks, but I guess that's to be expected. I don't think a 4wd would even have much luck on those grades in icy conditions, so get the travel insurance if you're staying in the winter. BTW, the restaurant suggestions in the book are outdated. There are WAY better places in Asheville now. Try Bull & Beggar, Table, The Admiral, Curate, Rhubarb, Red Stag ($$$) or Zambra, Strada, Salsa, Nine Mile ($$). But Barley's is still a great choice for pizza & beer. And don't miss the French Broad Chocolate Lounge for coffee & dessert. Last thing to know, we considered coming back with our kids (9 & 7), but there's not much space for unstructured play outside given that it's situated on the side of a mountain. Just FYI. Beautiful nonetheless."
