  • Everything we could ask for...and more!

"My husband and I brought our cat (!) to visit Asheville for 4 days. This home was PERFECT! We were able to leave the car parked and head downtown for the art, history, food, and bars every day. So convenient to have 2 grocers within walking distance as well! The home is very comfortable with an amazingly cat-friendly backyard. We spent many hours relaxing with a good book while our cat enjoyed exploring. Chimney Rock State Park was also less than an hour drive for a great nature great-away. We'll definitely be looking you up again if/when we decide to visit the area again. Love to bring some friends the next time!"

  • Exceptional!!

"We have been booking vacations for several years through VRBO. In most cases, the minimum reflected amenities were met as indicated in the on-line description and pictures. However, regarding Green Gables, every amenity was exceeded. Truly, this is the BEST vacation rental we have ever enjoyed. Georgia goes WAY out of her way to make you feel special and warmly welcomed. We enjoyed everyday we were there, great conversations on the porch and veranda with Georgia, taking Duncan (our Airedale) on many walks by the river and in the wonderfully pet friendly downtown of Asheville. The Cottage is a true 'sight to behold' in an of itself. The landscaping is stunning as is the décor of the home, beautifully fashioned with antiques. We have NEVER had such a complete kitchen and a bountiful supply of towels and accoutrements for the baths. Georgia, it was a wonderful week for us and I hope we can return someday to continue our relaxing on the porch and having great conversations. It was a great trip.!! Thank you for making it special."

  • Great location

"For our first trip to Asheville we wanted to be close to town so we didn't have to drive 30 or more minutes in from a mountaintop location. This cabin was perfect. We felt secluded enough with the wooded hill along the length of the big deck. The colorful fun decor made us smile every time we entered it. The booking was easy and the key code door lock a real plus. No messing around with keys. We were only 20 minutes from the Grove Park Inn and the Biltmore, 30 minutes to the awesome Chimney Rock State Park. West Asheville is bohemia fun and 5 minutes away. Eat at The Admiral! The hot tub came in handy after hiking. A comfortable place."

  • Cabin as described, logistics a little complicated

"We had a great time at Candyland. The cabin was just as described. It is hard to find a cabin like this that is close to town, really in the woods, and sleeps a lot of people. We enjoyed the hot tub. We were there on a very cold night - downstairs was not heated and the space heaters continually tripped the circuit so folks were cold at night. When I spoke with Candy about this the next day she did give us a solution. The logistics of renting from the owner were much more difficult than other cabins I've rented. It took me several tries to get a correct contract with the right price and dates, the address to send the check to on the rental form was incorrect so I had to send it twice, and I had to inquire twice to get my deposit returned. When it came it did not include the $10 discount for paying by check that we'd discussed. We did not get directions from her in time for our trip, and it took us several times to find the cabin using just the address. Candy is very nice and none of these things were intentional, but it did take a little bit of persistence to get everything correct. I do recommend this cabin, just plan to be organized and diligent with all of the logistics!"
