  • Affordable rental with turkeys but limited kitchen

"Four of us stayed with 2 medium dogs in May 2015. They loved the yard and porch and so did we! We grilled a few times and enjoyed the outdoors. The turkeys made multiple daily appearances! We didn't get to see any bears but that we just fine with us! The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well on them. There were sufficient linens and towels for everyone in our group which was very thoughtful by the host. The view is OK, you can see mountains in the distance but there are lots of more run down properties nearby that you also see, as mentioned by other reviewers. As long as you're aware of this going in, I think the price matches this. The owners are very sweet and dropped by once to make sure we were enjoying everything. For four people, the family room was a little small (furniture is quite oversized for the small family room which limits sitting space), but the TV and set up is otherwise good. There was not enough room for everyone to sit on the couches so one person had to take the rocking chair. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling off the walls and needs to be replaced. Despite all this, the only reason I took off one star was that the kitchen could have been better stocked. We stay in vacation rentals so that we can cook for some meals to save money during our vacations, as I imagine many of you do. Unfortunately, there were only cheap paring knives to use so that was a little tough to chop up our food! No tongs that we could find for the grill so my husband used a fork to get meat off the grill and singed his hand. Also there was one wine glass. So three of us ended up sipping wine out of juice glasses, which was fine, but didn't feel very classy. :-P It is a TINY kitchen with very limited workspace. If you don't care about cooking in a vacation rental this review probably doesn't apply to you, and I honestly feel bad about taking off a star, but it was quite challenging cooking our meals. The Biltmore was only 15 min away which was definitely worth the trip! We went down to Chimney Rock park one day and the view was incredible. We also went hiking in Pisgah National Forest-- I highly recommend going to Catawba Falls! It was about a 30 min drive northeast of the cabin. In downtown Asheville (about a 15 min drive) we ate at The Market Place, which was excellent! Overall, I would definitely recommend because of the great value for the stay! But just be aware of the limits of the kitchen."

  • Great Family Place

"My family decided to take a last minute vacation to the mountains. Using vrbo we happened upon this mountain home. It was everything we were expecting. We had guests in total as well as out fur babies, and it was heaven. Kid and pet friendly! There is also plenty to do in Ashville and surrounding areas. We will be visiting again!"

  • A wedding to Remember.

"My Wife, two friends and I Chose "Country Haven" as our temporary residence for a wedding that was taking place in the same town. Besides the property being absolutely breathtaking, the cabin it self is misleading. Misleading because from the outside it looks comfortable and quaint, then you walk inside and then, BAM! You immediately get hit with beautiful wood floors, walls, ceilings and a beautiful railing that carried along the upstairs lines. My wife and I stayed upstairs while our friends stayed in the bedrooms downstairs. This cabin is much bigger than it seems from the outside. It has everything you need and or want in a cabin. We enjoyed walking the grounds, seeing the animals and then building a fire in the fire pit, cooking a meal and eating together in the spacious dining table as a family. This was such an amazing getaway from city life. We will be back to the beautiful town of Leicester and I can only hope we will be staying in Country haven again. Thank you again for everything, X"

  • Sweet Cottage with Wonderful Charm

"We stayed here for two nights with our family of 5. We had the pleasure of attending their breakfast one morning at the B&B and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our kids loved their playground and immense swing at their neighbor's house. Our trip to Asheville was fantastic and we would absolutely return."
