  • A Sizable Slice of Heaven

"I stayed at this cabin with two of my lifelong friends; we used to go to the Smokies every summer when we were twenty-somethings, but then life got in the way, as it inevitably does. Now, we're fifty-somethings and had the opportunity to do it again, so we grabbed it, but decided against tent camping this time! They got to the cabin before I did, and the only thing my friends kept repeating to me over and over on the phone was, "You've got to get here NOW! You really outdid yourself picking this place. It's gorgeous, and the view is wonderful!" That was my opinion as well when I arrived. We spent a large portion of our time on the covered back porch admiring every detail of the amazing view. We ate ALL of our meals out there, accompanied by a sizable spider which had spun a web between the railing and a support post. We enjoyed observing him all week long, and even fed him a few times with a handy live insect. No reason to get rid of him, he's just trying to make a living same as us, right? There's nothing really bad to say about the place. Everything was clean and well-maintained, the beds were very comfy, and the location is well-situated to be close to all of the attractions the Bryson City area has to offer. We went rafting on the Nantahala, we went ziplining, we hiked, we dined, we did it all -- and had a great time doing it. The description of the cabin and its amenities is spot on. The pictures included in the listing are accurate and good, but the reality of being there is much, much better than photos could ever depict. We wanted to stay longer and actually called to see if we could, but another party was already booked in for the next day. That's okay. We will always have the memories of the fun we had. The only negative aspect I can think of is that the three bedrooms are located on three different floors, so only one of the three is accessible without using a full set of stairs. The set which go down to the lower level are steeper than the set that goes up to the loft bedroom. All in all, this cabin is heartily recommended. You most surely won't be disappointed."

  • Would love to come back -

"This cabin was perfect, from the decor to the kitchenwear, bedrooms, porch, hot tub, gas fireplace, new washer/dryer....everything. Perfect cabin for 3 couples - bedroom and bathroom for each. It was just the two of us this year and we decided to take a break from family for Christmas. Easy ride into town. Very thankful for allowing us to bring our four-legged girls, too. Would love to come back in the summer. Look no further for a cabin in Bryson City. Sincerely, Mike"

  • Great Place to Stay

"We really enjoyed this cabin. Hot tub was very relaxing as was the outside fireplace. We had an issue with the gas fireplace, but it was taken care of immediately. Would not hesitate staying again."

  • WINTER "WONDERFUL" GETAWAY

"WOW! The Nantahala River Lodge is an awesome destination retreat or vacation cabin to enjoy in the Wintertime. And owners Mickey and Annette are incredibly accommodating and their detail to things very helpful. Our winter getaway to the mountains of NC and their cabin was A++ from beginning to end. Being right on the river and getting 4" snow; the beauty and sounds of Mother Nature was at its finest while being nestled inside this well crafted cabin enjoying the fireplace, fellowship with friends and delicious meals prepared in a well equipped kitchen. All we had to bring was food and beverage. Pictures of the cabin and grounds drew us to want to stay at the NRL. But until you actually stay there and walk the grounds and river areas and surround yourself in the history of the structure of the cabin and furniture made of reclaimed wood from their family's NC cabins and barn along with the many artifacts and family history decor....it's unbelievably surreal. The cabin is not that far from the NOC and while it is along side a road-that was never a problem for us. In fact, we were relieved seeing how well maintained the road was during the freezing rains/ice and snowfall. So our sad departure because our winter getaway ended, was atleast a safe drive out of the mountains. Thank you Mickey and Annette for sharing your beautiful and unique cabin with us and your wonderful hospitality. We had a great, relaxing and special memory making time at the NRL."
