  • Just what we needed!

"Nestledown is a delighttful mountain home. It was exactly what was expected - clean, comfy and perfectly designed. And the hot tub - wonderful! The owner's drain and refill it with well water before each guest. The owners thought of everything we would need: TV's in each bedroom and den, wi-fi, secluded location (never saw or heard a neighbor), great location with easy and quick drive into town, fire wood and starter, too many positives to list. We will definitely recommend this home to others!"

  • Cozy, Peaceful, and Beatiful!

"From the moment we arived we knew this was going to be the perfect place to stay. There is so many things to do around this area; but we enjoyed this beautiful cabin as well. It was great sitting on the rocking chairs and swings on the porch enjoying a nice cool refreshing breze in the month of August. This cabin is very beatifull and rustic but yet has all top of the line apliances and utencils. The location between the running creeks is awesome. I will definely love to return to this amazing place. Thanks Bob and Kimberly."

  • Lovely stay!

"thank you for sharing your lovely cabin with us. It was just as described and met our needs perfectly. We had our friend in from England, and they wanted a few days in the mountains. We loved the cabin and the views from the porches. It was clean, well maintained, and fully stocked with all we needed to cook a few meals. I was impressed with all the little things you supplied, like spices and coffee filters. It's location is somewhat remote, but that made it very quiet, and gave us the wonderful views. We searched for the waterfalls, found the white squirrels on Brevard's college campus, and visited the shops in downtown Brevard! (Loved the Kiwi gelato desserts) Thanks again, I also appreciated your timely reply to our questions."

  • Beautiful Mountain Lake Retreat

"We loved every minute of our one week stay at Happy Bears Cottage. We highly recommend Bear Lake Reserve for a quiet retreat amidst stunning beauty. The house is tastefully furnished and well-cared for -- there was ample seating in the living area, a huge dining table & bar stools with seating for ten, bedrooms with amazingly comfortable mattresses, and a nicely appointed gourmet kitchen adequately supplied for cooking for a crowd for the chefs among you. We loved having the large screened porch out back. It provided a safe place for our little ones to play -- with two seating areas for the adults as well. The view from the porch was stunning -- it directly overlooks a well-groomed pond, with views of the mountains beyond it. From the porch, you have easy access to a large, level grassy area around the pond -- perfect for our grandkids to enjoy. And just beyond the pond was the amphitheater area, with an even larger grassy field. This cottage is very close to the main gate, which gave us quick access to the surrounding areas on the days we wanted to explore. There are two small towns (Sylva & Cullowhee) within a 30 minute drive with grocery stores and other necessities. We spent a day at the Biltmore Estate, which is a scenic one-hour drive away. There are lots of outdoor activities available in this general area: rock climbing, hiking, beautiful waterfalls & gem mining (Franklin area), horseback riding, zip-lining & whitewater rafting. But with the outstanding amenities available at Bear Lake Reserve, you may never leave the resort! Everything was top-notch and well-groomed -- from the incredible mountaintop golf course with stunning long range views, to the lake club area with its two pool areas & gorgeous views of the lake (one infinity pool for adults & one kiddie pool with slide), plus the amenities at the lake club (theatre room, library, kids' playroom, restaurant & café, fitness center), in addition to the marina area with various boat rentals, as well as the trout pond pavilion with catch & release fishing in their stocked pond, to the Bear Creek Park area with nature trails, fire pits & camp areas for family adventures -- there are so many activities to enjoy in this resort community! Do be aware that this particular cottage is not suited for anyone with limited mobility -- there is a steep slope with stone steps from the small parking pad to the front entrance. However, I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone else -- we loved it!!"
