  • Best home away from home at Golden Fox, Bear Lake!

"I took my mother, that is 75, and my two children. We didn't know that we were going to have such a wonderful place to stay, but boy were we surprised! Beautiful large home, very clean, well decorated, fireplace on the porch! In driving distance to waterfalls, shopping and gem mining! We have already decided we would like to return again sometime. Awesome time had by all!!"

  • Phenomenal Labor Day Getaway!

"We had a wonderful time staying here and exploring Bear Lake! The home is beautifully furnished and has everything you need, even the things you always forget to take when you rent a house (like olive oil and ketchup!). We had 4 adults and 4 small children under the age of 5 and we had plenty of room. The Lake Club is gorgeous. We spent time in the pools (our kids loved the slide!) and the lake taking advantage of the Club's paddle boards and canoes. We also rented a boat and found a beautiful waterfall. We were overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and serenity of it all. Allyson was wonderful and very helpful in the rental process. It felt like renting from a friend. Highly recommend!!"

  • Beautiful Mountain Lake Retreat

"We loved every minute of our one week stay at Happy Bears Cottage. We highly recommend Bear Lake Reserve for a quiet retreat amidst stunning beauty. The house is tastefully furnished and well-cared for -- there was ample seating in the living area, a huge dining table & bar stools with seating for ten, bedrooms with amazingly comfortable mattresses, and a nicely appointed gourmet kitchen adequately supplied for cooking for a crowd for the chefs among you. We loved having the large screened porch out back. It provided a safe place for our little ones to play -- with two seating areas for the adults as well. The view from the porch was stunning -- it directly overlooks a well-groomed pond, with views of the mountains beyond it. From the porch, you have easy access to a large, level grassy area around the pond -- perfect for our grandkids to enjoy. And just beyond the pond was the amphitheater area, with an even larger grassy field. This cottage is very close to the main gate, which gave us quick access to the surrounding areas on the days we wanted to explore. There are two small towns (Sylva & Cullowhee) within a 30 minute drive with grocery stores and other necessities. We spent a day at the Biltmore Estate, which is a scenic one-hour drive away. There are lots of outdoor activities available in this general area: rock climbing, hiking, beautiful waterfalls & gem mining (Franklin area), horseback riding, zip-lining & whitewater rafting. But with the outstanding amenities available at Bear Lake Reserve, you may never leave the resort! Everything was top-notch and well-groomed -- from the incredible mountaintop golf course with stunning long range views, to the lake club area with its two pool areas & gorgeous views of the lake (one infinity pool for adults & one kiddie pool with slide), plus the amenities at the lake club (theatre room, library, kids' playroom, restaurant & café, fitness center), in addition to the marina area with various boat rentals, as well as the trout pond pavilion with catch & release fishing in their stocked pond, to the Bear Creek Park area with nature trails, fire pits & camp areas for family adventures -- there are so many activities to enjoy in this resort community! Do be aware that this particular cottage is not suited for anyone with limited mobility -- there is a steep slope with stone steps from the small parking pad to the front entrance. However, I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone else -- we loved it!!"

  • Great relaxing lakehouse!

"We spent a few days at Serenity on Cedar with family (ages 2-67). The house was perfect in every way. The little kids loved being able to play on the lower level and in the loft! The lake was so peaceful. We rarely saw anyone else on the lake and felt like we were in our own secluded spot. The boats provided by the house really made the trip. We used the row boat, canoe, paddle boat and one kayak. Had a great experience traveling up the lake and we were able to paddle right up to a gorgeous waterfall. A great experience for the kids. The house was well equipped and very clean and well maintained! We will be back!"
