"The pictures do not do the home justice - the house and property are so much more beautiful, and the view so much more breathtaking. The home was very clean and well kept, and the kitchen was very well stocked and had absolutely everything we needed down to a crock pot! (In the past I've stayed at homes claiming to have a fully stocked kitchen only to arrive and find 3 forks, 2 plates and a single pot!) Completely the opposite at this home - fully stocked means fully stocked and then some! More than enough towels were provided as well as plenty of extra blankets (which our in-laws who are older appreciated) and seems like they tried to think of everything to make the home as comfortable as possible. There were games, puzzles, books, even a radio. Carol was very sweet and called shortly after our arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. Although the weather was not as cooperative as we had hoped, it somehow knew our plans each day and the rain managed to hold off just long enough for our planned activities. The activities were mostly for our children (ages 18, 19, 20), as I could have quite honestly lived on the upper deck and lower deck hammock with my books for the entire week without leaving and been quite happy. That being said, I did enjoy the activities too - we rented a pontoon boat on Lake Glenville for half a day with a tube for the kids, went to the Cherokee Reservation Museum and Indian Village, toured Biltmore House, went zip lining at The Gorge (my favorite and highly recommended - fastest zip line in the US), climbed up to Chimney Rock, hiked a trail in Great Smoky Mountains Park to swim in Midnight Hole and see a waterfall, and enjoyed a free outdoor Concert on the Creek after dinner at Lulu's in Sylva. The kids also had a great time using the kayaks and paddle boat, and my husband and I really enjoyed the canoe even though we only managed to get out on it once. Such an incredibly beautiful area - there is so much to do - no matter the age. My in-laws came with us (ages 77 and 82) and were able to do some activities with us such as Biltmore House and the Museums, but were also able to find other things to do on their own such as the Railroad Museum, a train ride, and stopped at some local micro-breweries."
