  • Great cabin, near great hikes!

"My wife and I have vacationed here numerous times and look at the Rockaway Hideaway as our place in the mountains. The cabin and furnishings want for nothing. Fantastic screened front porch! Great hiking ranging from walking out the front door and hiking uphill, through the Cataloochee Ranch pastures to Hemphill Bald (and then into the GSMNP for a longer hike), to any of the numerous great hikes within a 45 minute drive. Google "Hemphill Bald live webcam" for the current view from Hemphill Bald. There is solar powered weather monitoring equipment there that includes the webcam that looks down into the valley. Baxter Creek Trail in at the north edge of the GSMNP makes for an extreme day hike for the most adventuresome (dogs not allowed in the national park), but Max Patch is nearby which is a more moderate hike, great for dogs. Part of the Max Patch trails are on a section of the Apoalachian Trail. To the south is Looking Glass Rock hike, another favorite of ours. You won't be disappointed!"

  • Linda W. North Carolina

"Our family has just returned from the best vacation we have ever had....and all eleven of us, ages 4 through 70, agree! We had never been to Lake Toxaway, so we had no idea what to expect. We had seen the pictures of the house and it looked beautiful....but we held our breath as we opened the front door. All I can say is, it was WONDERFUL....down to the smallest detail. It was spotlessly clean, decorated beautifully....the lovely pictures on the website don't even do it justice! The kitchen was fully equipped with two refrigerators; there was plenty of space for our family and SO MUCH available for every person to enjoy. One of the loveliest features was the beautiful, comfortable porch (with a gas grill) overlooking the lake which we enjoyed from early morning till late at night. And the wonderful dock was filled with activity all day long...the sliding board into the lake and equipment for different water activities...a fire pit. Seeing and hearing unending laughter, good conversation, all of our family enjoying being together for meals around the table.... it was a vacation we will never forget and hope to repeat next year. And a huge thank you to Jennifer, the owner, for being so accessible and immediately responsive. Our experience has been a joy from beginning to end!"

  • Key Falls Inn and Cabin

"we spent Sunday night at the Inn and enjoyed such lovely hospitality. The accommodations were first class and the breakfast was delicious. Monday we moved to the cabin for the remainder of our stay and we cannot say enough good things about it! Everything is first class and comfortable and in the most beautiful forest setting. Go to sleep and awake to the sound of the little brook which runs down from the water fall. We definitely will return, Lord willing. Thank you for the beautiful, restful week at Key Falls Inn and Cabin. Wanda and Levoy Bankson Bertha Ann Denard"

  • Great Mountain Get Away!

"We had an awesome time staying off the grid and you wouldn't even know it. We had 6 couples in our party, one couple in their 50s, one in their 70s, and the other in their 80s. We all loved the house and the views. You could see the stars amazingly well and hear the babbling brook outside the main bedroom window. The road to the house is a bit steep but we made it up in a Toyota Avalon and a GMC Yukon 2 wheel drive, so don't let that scare you off."
