"The cottage was very clean and it was in a nice, safe, and quiet area. Everything about the cottage was wonderful except for the couch. It was uncomfortable to sit on BUT super comfy to sleep in (pull-out bed). It was nice having an extra bed but was not super pleasant to sit on. Great stay overall. Would stay here again if I was in the area!"

"After a stressful trip and late arrival to Murphy, we were greeted by George at the road. We had passed the house in the dark. He knew it would be us and came out to direct us. We unloaded our things and were able to make it to the Campbell school for the last couple hours of the 'Hammer in'. The house is just beautiful. We *absolutely* had everything we needed in this house for the weekend. My husband and I slept so well here. We think it was for a number of reasons-George lives right across the street and was ready to help in any way needed, this is basically a gated community and it is very very quiet, and you can hear the river (small rapids) flowing with the window opened a bit. We felt very safe and at ease. We met so many wonderful people on this trip. George was definitely one of them. We brought our three teenage children with us. They weren't all interested in the blacksmithing events. But the wifi and Direct TV all they really needed. We took a couple walks down the road and along the Hiawassee. So lovely. Thank you George. :)"

"I recently spent an extended weekend at Brookside with family. What an incredible mountain retreat! Surrounded by woods, watching deer stroll by, incredible woodwork and ample accommodations for 5 adults. Born in East Tennessee, we took a short trip back there (just an hour or so away), availed ourselves for the local grocery store and just unwound.
I loved every moment of it. And regarding that drive up the mountain? Crazy fun! The video on this page is fun to watch, but far more fun to drive up and down.
I would love to visit again, but barring that, I definitely recommend this retreat."
