  • Fabulously, cozy stay!

""Solitude" was a wonderful place to visit. We were greeted by some neighborhood dogs upon arrival, which made us miss our two Dachshunds a little bit. The home was nice and cozy with an inviting ambience and various signs of the owners' spirituality. Those things made our stay all the more worth it. We visited Lake Lure for the Dirty Dancing festival, fed a groundhog on the Parkway from our bare hands, and visited Burntshirt Vinyards. We were accompanied by another couple and were able to make fun memories with them. Terri was extremely accommodating and easy to work with. I would absolutely recommend "Solitude" for any person wishing to relax and enjoy a beautiful scene."

  • Second time Guests

"My wife and I have rented this home before and had been so happy, that we wanted to return. The views from the back porch are spectacular and the proximity of the home to all that the region has to offer, is just a short drive away. The owners are an absolute pleasure to work with ..We will definitely be returning !!!"

  • Beautiful place to escape the heat

"We spent three nights here, with the goal of having some good meals and reading on the porch. The house accommodated both perfectly. It is very convenient to Highlands, where there are restaurants and grocery stores (all 5 minutes away by car). During our mid-June stay, the high was in the mid-70s each day. This property is instantly homey, and the owner has done a fabulous job of keeping a rustic feel while providing all conveniences. The house is also very, very clean and well-maintained. Uniquely, the house has a kitchen that is both functional and very pleasant to use. Many of the other places we looked into had either ancient kitchens that looked very unfriendly or new ones that lacked any charm. This one has good views of the common areas, porch and yard, and the appliances are high-quality and modern. The house is situated very privately, and the interior and exterior spaces are not exposed to immediate views or interactions with neighbors. Happily, though, there are neighbors on both sides and across the street -- meaning you enjoy the good parts of isolation while still enjoying the security of a neighborhood. We will return to this property, and I think the owner's photos give a genuine impression of the look and condition of the property. If it looks good to you, you will not be disappointed."

  • Beautiful house

"We had a terrific time on our trip to Asheville for a week, and this house was a large part of that. The house is in a great location - close to downtown and the expressway if you are driving elsewhere, and near good stores and a few good restaurants. It's in a nice, upscale neighborhood. It's lovely home - well-decorated, very well equipped, and comes with 2 wonderful owners who we enjoyed meeting. They want to make sure you have a good time. It was the first trip we took with our dog, Daisy the Boston Terrier, (a friend named our trip Driving Miss Daisy) so it was a trial experiment for us and the house worked out well for her too. The fenced-in yard meant we didn't need to worry about our dog taking off on us, as she likes to do. This house has a lot of beautiful artwork, so is much nicer in decoration and furnishings than many rented houses. It doesn't feel like a rental house. You feel like you are staying in the house of a friend with exquisite taste. I highly recommend it."
