  • Room with a View

"This house has lots of space, things to do, great kitchen and is well located. However, the view from this cabin is so spectacular that it makes the house secondary. We spent most of our time on the deck enjoying the view, the hummingbirds, watching a hawk soar, or just reading or taking a nap. One caution is that the roads in Gateway Mountain are quite steep with sharp turns so if you want to take a walk from the cabin you have to be able to walk on steep grades up and down. We enjoyed the Falls in the neighborhood - we left a car at the parking area for those who wanted a ride back home as the trip back is mostly uphill. Take a picnic lunch to enjoy at the trail head shelter. Thngs in the area that we enjoyed were Crabtree Falls and Mount Mitchell on the Blue Ridge Parkway, a day at Biltmore followed by dinner on the Sunset Terrace at Grove Park Inn (be sure you stay for the sunset gong), dining at the Wicked Weed and Jack of the Woods in Asheville. For something quick the Catawba Falls close to the cabin is worth seeing (near the interstate in Old Fort) and Black Mountain is nice for ice cream at Kilwins and the gourmet grocery store has interesting items and a wine bar. For someone who may need a bit of help with steep inclines when hiking in the area, there are walking sticks at the house - use them! This cabin felt like a home and had lots of cozy touches and interesting antiques. We made much use of the game room in the basement - there was something for everyone. We would rent this cabin again if we return to the area."

  • Very comfortable and conveneint cabin!

"This is a very well appointed, comfortable and quiet cabin that is centrally located in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. My family of four loved our week spent here! It is quiet and cozy yet close to the many activities this wonderful area has to offer. You could also just spend the day in the cabin and relax; it has wonderful decks to sit on and read, a pool table, hot tub, a corn hole game and a fire pit! It is a 15 minute drive to the Oconaluftee Visitor Center Entrance of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It also has the towns of Dillsboro and Sylva located nearby with good, local restaurants and grocery stores. The town of Cherokee is close as well for more things to do. Within 30 minutes are more cute towns, restaurants, shops and outdoor activities. There is also a very good local produce stand 5 minutes from the cabin! After days of hiking in the GSMNP or a morning horseback ride we would come back and use the wonderful hot tub. A fire pit made for a great night of making smores. The cabin is immaculately clean and well stocked for cooking meals at the cabin. There is a lot of room to spread out as a family and everything is very well maintained. This cabin is in great shape. Jerry the local property manager is wonderful and provides a great welcome to the area! Our only regret is that we did not stay longer to tube some of the local rivers, gem hunt, do more hikes and eat in more local restaurants! This is a must rent if you want a first class stay in the Smoky Mountains. It feels secluded but is in the middle of so much! Ruth and Jim, the owners, have done a wonderful job with this cabin. Thank you for letting us stay there!"

  • Wow! Oh Wow!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay over the 4th of July,2014. The cleanliness exceeded all our expectations. The home was so neatly decorated. The treats that were there for our enjoyment were delicious. We watched a group that were kayaking down the Little Tennessee. We are looking forward to returning as soon as it is possible. Sara and Allen were terrific to work with."

  • Great place!

"Our stay was wonderful. The house is beautiful and provided a very comfortable place for our time at Lake Junaluska. There's also a great nature trail located right across the street that has lots of beautiful flowers and trees."
