  • Stunning, beautiful cabin

"Breath-taking beauty, this amazing cabin sits perched with a fantastic view of the French Broad River. Arrived this past Thursday, the cabin was wonderfully clean and inviting. Not one issue arose, everything we needed was there. The view, the feeling of being on top of the world...certainly the most beautiful location for a secluded piece of heaven. If you are looking for that perfect place to stay, with plenty of rooms and everything you could think of available (hot towel racks, pool table, hiking for miles, river views), this is definitely the place. Thank you for sharing with us."

  • Treehouse Fun

"The Treehouse Chalet is cozy, clean and welcoming. I prepared a full breakfast one morning and found all the necessary tools to do that. Plenty of wood was available for the wood burning stove, a good thing as it got quite cold. There were several great restaurants within a short drive and we had wonderful meals in Clyde and Waynesville. Be aware, if winter weather is predicted, you will need a 4WD vehicle to get into the driveway, the snow plow stops about 50 feet shy of it."

  • Luxury, Peace and Quiet!

"I will admit I was skeptical to rent a place with no reviews & limited pictures/description. Every expectation I had in regards to my stay here was exceeded! The home is absolutely goegeous, tucked away at the end of the road overlooking a forest. The hot tub sits on a huge deck with an attached large screened in porch, complete with comfy seating & a nice sized grill. The house has a beautiful flow, with the kitchen, half bath, living area and master bedroom/bath on the main floor. The downstairs can be accessed via a spiral staircase OR a rear entrance door. There you'll find a pool & ping pong table, darts, board games and bar area. There are 2 additional bedrooms down here & another full bath. The few cons I had were really minimal. -No propane tank at all for the grill -Bed sleeps at an incline which was a little strange Above all the pros FAR outweigh any cons, and Jess, the owner, was a breeze to work with. She answered all my emails quickly & tried to answer any questions I had. We will absolutely be returning to this little hidden gem!"

  • Wonderful views and comfortable accomodations

"We had a wonderful 3 days at Schreck's Shack. Easy to find, quiet and comfortable. A great place to unwind and get away from it all, but close enough to great hiking trails and the conveniences of Franklin. And the views are spectacular! I especially liked the garden tub with the magnificent view. After a day of hiking, the tub was the perfect ending to a perfect day. And the fireplace, with access from bedroom and living room, was a nice touch on a cold wintry day. All in all, a cozy cabin, with everything you need to relax and unwind. The owner was very easy to work with, and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care. He knows the area very well and truly enjoys sharing his little piece of heaven. This cabin is the prefect size for a couple or small family. Next time, we will visit during a warmer time of year so we can enjoy the rocking chairs and swing on the front porch."
