  • Beautiful old home

"My trip to Saluda was a last minute decision and I couldn't be happier with my experience. This home is beautiful and very comfortable. It is well cared for and very clean. The location is within walking distance to Green River Barbeque and the small downtown area. The owner is easy to work with and to contact which makes things even better. You are close to Asheville and the great Craft Breweries there as well as Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.'s new brewery. Take the tour, it free and worth the 90 minutes. Also close by are plenty of opportunities to visit historic properties, hike and visit several of the local waterfalls. If you are like me and want a place to get away from it all and relax this house is perfect. The large front porch has plenty of seating and it's a great place to read or take a nap."

  • WINTER "WONDERFUL" GETAWAY

"WOW! The Nantahala River Lodge is an awesome destination retreat or vacation cabin to enjoy in the Wintertime. And owners Mickey and Annette are incredibly accommodating and their detail to things very helpful. Our winter getaway to the mountains of NC and their cabin was A++ from beginning to end. Being right on the river and getting 4" snow; the beauty and sounds of Mother Nature was at its finest while being nestled inside this well crafted cabin enjoying the fireplace, fellowship with friends and delicious meals prepared in a well equipped kitchen. All we had to bring was food and beverage. Pictures of the cabin and grounds drew us to want to stay at the NRL. But until you actually stay there and walk the grounds and river areas and surround yourself in the history of the structure of the cabin and furniture made of reclaimed wood from their family's NC cabins and barn along with the many artifacts and family history decor....it's unbelievably surreal. The cabin is not that far from the NOC and while it is along side a road-that was never a problem for us. In fact, we were relieved seeing how well maintained the road was during the freezing rains/ice and snowfall. So our sad departure because our winter getaway ended, was atleast a safe drive out of the mountains. Thank you Mickey and Annette for sharing your beautiful and unique cabin with us and your wonderful hospitality. We had a great, relaxing and special memory making time at the NRL."

  • Great Week!

"My husband and I stayed for a week. The location is great! We went to Cherokee, Blue Ridge, Blairsville, Hiawassee and more! The cabin had everything we needed. The location was private enough and very quiet. It was nice to have laundry facilities too! Close to river tubing, hiking and sight seeing. We are planning to go back at Spring Break if the cabin is available."

  • Peaceful, updated mountainside cabin.

"Our family of 4 recently stayed at Stonewood Cabin. It is exactly as pictured. What you can't photograph is the serenity of the place. You leave the main highway and drive 2 miles up decent mountain roads to a tranquil cabin in the woods. The cabin is situated on the mountainside. While you cannot see the stream that is nearby, you can hear it when you are outside. There is a nice campfire area away from the house where you can enjoy the sounds of nature and the mountain stream without being bothered by the noise of neighbors. The cabin is quaint and decorated appropriately. You feel right at home when you enter the place. The hot tub was clean and ready to go for us when we arrived. The views are outstanding from all of the outside areas. I walked a bit up the road for some pictures of the mountains with higher elevations. A very serene and calming place this certainly was. The owner Annette, was just outstanding to work with. She talked with me about things to do in the area, answered all of my many questions, promptly returned all of my emails and our security deposit was credited back the day after we left! She has certainly thought of everything at the cabin including even labeling what goes in each cabinet! That was very helpful as my girls did some baking and I was able to put everything back right where it belonged. We will miss this little piece of heaven and the surrounding area."
