  • Awesome place and AWESOME people

"Valentine's getaway for me and wife. This place is beautiful and QUIET! Just what we were looking for to be alone and snuggle. The restaurant at the country club is very good. There had been some work on the water lines by the county a few days prior to our arrival and this ended up clogging the waterlines in our unit-Janice and Richard were on the spot and offered us their other unit without question and allowed us to stay late on Sunday as a bonus. These are quality people that care about your satisfaction and comfort. We will be back for sure!!!"

  • Wonderful views and comfortable accomodations

"We had a wonderful 3 days at Schreck's Shack. Easy to find, quiet and comfortable. A great place to unwind and get away from it all, but close enough to great hiking trails and the conveniences of Franklin. And the views are spectacular! I especially liked the garden tub with the magnificent view. After a day of hiking, the tub was the perfect ending to a perfect day. And the fireplace, with access from bedroom and living room, was a nice touch on a cold wintry day. All in all, a cozy cabin, with everything you need to relax and unwind. The owner was very easy to work with, and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care. He knows the area very well and truly enjoys sharing his little piece of heaven. This cabin is the prefect size for a couple or small family. Next time, we will visit during a warmer time of year so we can enjoy the rocking chairs and swing on the front porch."

  • Fantastic

"Our stay was very pleasant and enjoyable. The cabin was more spacious than we had thought. Our host, David, was more than welcoming. He made sure we had everything we needed and that things were running accordingly. He helped us with some great hiking trails to visit along the way. Great cabin for four people to stay at. We will definitely be coming back to again!"

  • Happy Valentine Day in The Smokies

"“The Long and Winding Road” Although a song by the Beatles it is a perfect description of your great mountain hideaway. Floridians, beach people, go to the mountains for a change of scenery. We don't drive on mountain roads and they always seem longer and more winding. Every inch worth the drive. To sit and look towards the Appalachian Trail and wonder who might be ready to start their long adventure. To sit and listen to the quiet (it's a great non-sound). To watch the winter birds search for a feeding as the sun begins to warm the mornings after sub-freezing nights. To watch the slowing emptying feeder as if it were an hour glass. A weekend, an Anniversary celebration, a Valentine get-away, all provided by your Smokey Mountain retreat. Thanks for the extra treat of firewood, though we brought some of our own. Thanks for the clean and restful environment. Most of all, thanks for the great directions. They were spot-on. Dinner at Cafe REL, Lucio's, and in Cherokee at Brio Tuscan Grill filled all the needs for fine dining. Even offering the use of your Ingles card was an extra thoughtful touch. We will be back.
