  • Laurel Loft loveliness

"We spent the entire week of Thanksgiving at Laurel Loft and absolutely adored our stay! The cottage was perfect, from the cleanliness of the cabin, to the simple yet cabin-y cozy decor, to the beautiful wood wrap- around porches. We had some rather chilly mornings and the gas fireplace was awesome! Great for fireside coffee and to keep the toes warm while we watched the light snow fall. Perfect. Both bathrooms are beautifully decorated and very spacious, as are the bedrooms. Of course, we took in some of Highlands most delicious restaurants, all within 1 mile radius from the cabin: On the Verandah, Cyrprus, Mountain Fresh Grocery, and Wild Thyme. We also took many walks around the Mirror Lake community. Nature in all its beauty, yet steps away from town. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation! The owners are very pleasant to work with. We look forward to returning to Highlands in the Spring or Summer."

  • Beautiful Mountain Retreat

"We stayed at this house while the fall leaf colors and the amazing local waterfalls were at a their peaks. This is a perfect location to enjoy the outdoors in a quiet wooded mountain setting. We fully endorse what many others have written about the outstanding design, décor and livability of the house and property. It is conveniently located close to half way between Highlands and Cashiers. The excellent hiking trails at Whiteside Mountain are only a short drive away, and if you are lucky you may be able to see the "Bear Shadow" made by the mountain from an overlook just down the highway. The owner was very helpful to us, providing thorough information on household equipment and on restaurants and things to do in the area. She also promptly addressed any questions that came up before and during our visit. We are very happy to have stayed here during what we consider the best season of the year. However, a stay at any time of year would be great given all that the house and area have to offer."

  • A must see cabin!! Highly Recommended!

"What a wonderful cabin to relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the Smoky Mountains! This cabin was so comfortable and had everything you could need. The décor was perfect for the mountains and it was very well designed for privacy for multiple groups or couples. The cabin is located perfectly between Cashiers and Highlands so you could enjoy both areas and they were only a 10-15 minute drive on each side. We enjoyed morning walks on the street and access to wonderful trails only 5 minutes away. We typically stay at the Old Edwards Inn but we really enjoyed staying here and we got to experience different aspects of the area that you don't get to see if you stay in town. The owner is so organized and had all the information sent to us along with recommendations for the area on where to eat and what to do while on our vacation. It was such an easy experience. We will definitely be back up to stay at this cabin and would recommend this to anyone who wants a relaxing escape. Karen & Adam"

  • Leaf watcher

"This historic home was charming, well appointed, breath taking views, seclusion from crowds, plenty of room, and a wonderful location near town but provided the mountain rustic experience we wanted. Great yard and walking room with pets. Will definitely return again."
