  • Beautiful Home

"Renting Maplewood for a three-day getaway was a great experience from start to finish. Rob was so nice and easy to work with on the arrangements, and the home itself is absolutely lovely. It worked out perfectly for four adults and one small dog--providing great communal spaces as well as end-of-day privacy in spacious bedrooms with their own private baths. The home is beautifully decorated, well equipped and very clean and comfortable. The location is wonderful--very close to town and all of the sites, restaurants and shopping of Highlands. Really, there was not a single thing about this rental that I would change. This is by far the best rental experience we have had, and we would highly recommend Maplewood. I hope we will have the opportunity to return."

  • Wonderful Thanksgiving Gathering

"Our family stayed in this beautifully decorated, well equipped home duing Thanksgiving week. The views from this home on top of Big Bear Pen Mountain are spectacular. There is so much room in the dining room, we were all able to eat together comfortably. The Murray's were so helpful and pleasant to work with in making this a very memorable holiday family vacation. The location is very conveniently located, close to town and easy driving up to the top of the mountain. Driving up and down the mountain was even easy with the 1" snowfall we woke up to on Thanksgiving morning! The Grands loved it! Hiking or long easy walks were right out the door. The wood burning fire place warmed the living room every night. It was so roomy and cozy too! Thank you Ben and Melissa for sharing your piece of heaven. We loved it."

  • Serenity with adventure

"We stayed at Trails Innfor 30 days. Choosing a house on the internet is very difficult as every house seems wonderful. We liked the idea of a 60 year old well established home that had a history of being lived in. We wanted a degree of seclusion to enjoy nature. We intended to view waterfalls and make many hikes and walks. Being seconds from Main Street versus minutes was not important. On arrival, we were met by the owners and thoroughly briefed. It was difficult paying attention as the house was absolutely perfect and we were struck by the immediate realization that we had lucked out with our choice. We also realized that we were very fortunate to have Anne and Richard as the owners. It was like meeting new friends. They provided mountains of brochures and information with information, maps and tips on things to do and where to eat. The house proved to be ideal. It is perfectly maintained, wonderfully outfitted and the location is such that the word idyllic is used every day. The kitchen had everything one could want, appliances there and elsewhere worked just fine as did everything else. The master bedroom had a great bed and a flatscreen TV. Sleeping was aided by the sound of rushing water. The two bathrooms were recently redone with large tiles and an electrically heated floor. The living room had another flat screen TV and many books that fitted our era. Wifi worked perfectly. Another couple joined us for 3 days and loved the equally splendid guest bedroom. We just about visited every one of the many waterfalls and hiked every trail and climbed every mountain with a picnic lunch in the backpack. Hiking under cascades of blooming Rhododendrons alongside mountain streams is not Florida. The house was so well appointed that there was a story in every room waiting to be told. There were even many walking sticks resting by the front door, asking to be used. We found the elevation and climate to be deliciously cool and the occasional rain to be welcome. We kept the bird feeder full and enjoyed the many antics it created. We found time to make an overnight side trip to revisit the Biltmore Estate at Asheville. We have had many enjoyable vacations but have always felt when it was time to leave and that it would be good to get home. This time we did not want to leave."

  • Wonderful

"I rented this property as my children wanted to have a Thanksgiving together. It was wonderful. The owners were accommodating and very helpful. Like a museum, but nice for all ages. We really enjoyed. Would recommend for all family's to try once."
