"Photos don't do the house justice. We stayed in this charming home last fall at the height of the leaf season with several couples. This house sits like a treehouse high in the trees with complete privacy and a view of a small mountain just at the edge of the property . Loved sitting by the fire and looking outside at the leaves turning and listening to the creek below the deck and the birds feeding off the deck. Our group did several hikes that were nearby and had two wonderful dinners in town. We also cooked at home, the house is fully equipped and the decor in the home is welcoming and charming. It's also beautiful to canoe from the house to Mirror Lake where the leaves were on full display. Wonderful mountain weekend!"

"Beautiful area with plenty to see and do, very nice little town of Highlands, and yet not overly busy and crowded (as were Bar Harbor and Acadia when I visited Maine last year). The house is lovely in design and setting. It felt very much off the beaten path, but was not too isolated. The owners have thought of every creature comfort one could wish; they are also extremely helpful, as when I had to change my original reserved dates. I was with my teenage son looking for quiet and relaxation, but it would also be a great place for a couple or fun for a larger group of people."

"My sister and I decided to take our mother and her grandchildren for a weekend getaway to Highlands, and I feel very lucky we were able to make memories in this lovely home. All of us really enjoyed our time there. The house itself is impeccably decorated, which pleased the adults, but it is also full of things to keep the kids occupied. They loved splashing in the water and hopping across the rocks, playing ping pong, board games, and the fire pit; we enjoyed the porch and the proximity to town and hiking. I would certainly stay there again! We loved everything about it!"

Nice house nice owners but some details not attended to by rental manager
"It's a beautiful home on a nice bit of land (with a lot of bears wandering in the yard so pet owners and parents beware, we saw tracks of a 500+ pound bear only a yard from the house ). Very nice accomodations for multiple families as the basement is almost a separate apartment as is the top floor, the owner was quite friendly and quick in her responses to our rental inquiry as well. However, their rental management company is not keeping the house stocked. There was no toilet paper. There were no trash bags. There was no coffee, not even a jar of instant. There was no fast lighting kindling or newspapers provided for their beautiful fireplace on the porch, only recently cut wet wood that wouldn't stay lit (and we had to haul that in from the barn ourselves, really?). There were also broken glass shards on the main floor bathroom's floor from where someone dropped something and did not mop up afterwards. Very nice home and a lovely woodland escape, just not stocked as properly as it should have been. Would rent again but next time will ensure that the basics are stocked in the home before arrival."
