  • Serenity with adventure

"We stayed at Trails Innfor 30 days. Choosing a house on the internet is very difficult as every house seems wonderful. We liked the idea of a 60 year old well established home that had a history of being lived in. We wanted a degree of seclusion to enjoy nature. We intended to view waterfalls and make many hikes and walks. Being seconds from Main Street versus minutes was not important. On arrival, we were met by the owners and thoroughly briefed. It was difficult paying attention as the house was absolutely perfect and we were struck by the immediate realization that we had lucked out with our choice. We also realized that we were very fortunate to have Anne and Richard as the owners. It was like meeting new friends. They provided mountains of brochures and information with information, maps and tips on things to do and where to eat. The house proved to be ideal. It is perfectly maintained, wonderfully outfitted and the location is such that the word idyllic is used every day. The kitchen had everything one could want, appliances there and elsewhere worked just fine as did everything else. The master bedroom had a great bed and a flatscreen TV. Sleeping was aided by the sound of rushing water. The two bathrooms were recently redone with large tiles and an electrically heated floor. The living room had another flat screen TV and many books that fitted our era. Wifi worked perfectly. Another couple joined us for 3 days and loved the equally splendid guest bedroom. We just about visited every one of the many waterfalls and hiked every trail and climbed every mountain with a picnic lunch in the backpack. Hiking under cascades of blooming Rhododendrons alongside mountain streams is not Florida. The house was so well appointed that there was a story in every room waiting to be told. There were even many walking sticks resting by the front door, asking to be used. We found the elevation and climate to be deliciously cool and the occasional rain to be welcome. We kept the bird feeder full and enjoyed the many antics it created. We found time to make an overnight side trip to revisit the Biltmore Estate at Asheville. We have had many enjoyable vacations but have always felt when it was time to leave and that it would be good to get home. This time we did not want to leave."

  • Excellent mountain home!

"My family (three young children) and another family (2 children) just finished up a great stay at the Wagmore. Location is very convenient to downtown Highlands, yet, is situated in a secluded picturesque location. The constant sound of runny water over rocks while sitting in front of the outdoor fire makes for a great end to the evening. Rooms are spacious and have all the needed appointments, and more. We will be going back."

  • Beautiful home with great location in Highlands

"Our family stayed here for 3 nights in Nov. There was snow on the ground when we arrived and firewood on the porch, thanks to the owner's respone to our request. Home is lovely, just as pictured. Highlands is a quick 5 min. drive away. A great home to rent if you are bringing children as they will love the basement game room with it's own bed and bath and porch. Fully stocked kitchen, easy to cook in. Upstairs back porch would be fabulous in good weather. Great seating area and table. Lots of candles and ambience, could be very romantic even for just a couple but also great for a larger group. Owner was very nice and easy to work with, very responsive. Will definitely be back."
