Exactly What We Were Looking For!
"Viking Mountain Lodge was the perfect cabin for our family retreat. The cabin is spacious but still feels cozy. Our family especially enjoyed sitting out on the front porch every morning, listening to the creek rushing by. The area is relaxing and secluded, yet close enough to town that a trip to the grocery store isn't a huge inconvenience. We're already discussing coming back when it gets a little warmer, so we can enjoy more of the outdoor activities in the area. Alan was very accommodating and made the entire process very easy! Thanks Alan!"

"We had a wonderful honeymoon! After 16 years of marriage, we took time to get away. We have lived in Asheville and visited Hotsprings so we knew the mountains and wanted to get back to them. Based purely on the pictures and the reviews we chose Limestone Cabin and we were extremely glad we did!
The cabin has what seems to me like welcoming arms that come down the limestone steps to embrace the guests. We were greeted by the massive porch where we grilled our suppers. read, painted, talked, rocked on the rockers, that Harold provides and watched the trains go by. The front door is hugh and hung expertly, swinging with ease. Inside we saw the open floor plan with big stone fireplace to the right, in front of the couch and easy chair and kitchen to the left, with dining table. On the first floor there is a full bathroom off the dining area. We then ventured upstairs and were delighted to see there a half bath, next to the full-sized bed. This loft area is so quiet and peaceful as well as equiped!
Spending most of our time at the cabin was a treat. Everything was provided by Harold, including washer and dryer. My sweet husband cooked out on the grill every night and I baked some. There was even a masher to mash the bananas for bread!
We did walk to town every morning of our five day stay, just a 15 min. walk down the train tracks. Hot Springs has very warm and personable people, with anything that you might need.
The hot tub on the back porch was superb, clean, and well used by us! We could visualize it in the winter too! I guess a return trip needs to be made in colder weather! See you again Harold and thank you so much! you have a great place there in Hot Springs! He move this cabin you know to the current location. It is a vintage cabin, 100 years old, where a woman raise 12 children."

"Our stay was perfect. The house is very comfortable for a couples weekend and the location is extremely secluded. I would highly recommend this cabin for a mountain getaway. Oh, and the trout stream less then 200 feet from the front door is a real treat, when combined with a full sized pool table (plenty of room to play), fast Wi-Fi, Direct TV, and Gas Fire Place. Relax and Enjoy."

"This is a clean and quite adequate house for a visit to Hot Springs. You can walk to the town and this is a reasonable rate for the amenities offered. Be warned that it is close to the road and has no fence so you will need to mind the fur babies well. We put our own little barrier up at the front porch steps and they were fine then sitting out there with us. Enjoyed the fire pit in the side yard one evening and got in the hot tub once also. The kitchen is not heavily stocked with cookware so don't plan on doing your gourmet cooking here but it was fine for what we made. There's a Dollar General nearby and we just went down and got a few of the usual items that tend to go missing at rental houses and left them there, which we see as no big deal. This isn't a new house, so expect the usual small issues of cracked linoleum and such. I hate to see people complain about those things when they really don't impact your stay! The screen door latch was missing- I went to the hardware store, got a new one and put it on. For us, I didn't want the dogs to be able to push open the door. (People who expect luxury and perfection need to be selecting rated hotels or very high dollar rentals!) Though I didn't meet her, Melanie is an excellent communicator and available if you need her. The beds were comfy and the cable tv worked fine, giving mother-in-law plenty of things to watch. We enjoyed the little dining table and nearby front porch space very much. Thanks very much, Melanie!"
