  • Clean, pleasant cottage.

"We enjoyed the mountainous location as well as the clean, well cared for home. It may sound strange, but I often judge a rental by it's linens and this rated an A+. Many towels and good quality!"

  • Amazing trip with dear friends in perfect house and location!

"We wanted to find a perfect location to spend a few days with dear friends before our two oldest children left for college for their freshman year. This home could not have been more perfect in every way! It is located in the beautiful Lake Toxaway in the mountains. The three bedrooms on the main floor all had their own bathrooms and amazingly comfortable beds. The kitchen is very updated and fully stocked with absolutely anything you could imagine you would need. The large den with the high ceiling is a very comfortable way for all of to hang out and spend great time together. The huge deck was great for card games and other games with a great view for all of us! The downstairs has 2 bunk beds and a couch - perfect for the three girls. The house is just up from the golf course and the marina where you can rent boats. It is all a short drive from Sapphire Valley and Cashiers where there are lots of great restaurants and shops (Mica's and Cornu Copia and the Sapphire Valley Brewing Company) - and of course right around the corner from our favorite Brown Trout restaurant. We also had a great trip to the waterfalls and a hike all close by. It was all in all the perfect vacation which allowed us to create wonderful memories for years to come! Most of all, the owners were fabulous and very easy to work with - and made us feel like we were their personal guests for the weekend."

  • I Hate To Write This Review...

"...because I feel like I'm just creating more competition for myself when it comes to booking another trip to the Retreat! Seriously however, this was our second year at the Retreat and it was just as good as the first. This is still just an amazing place. You're way up the mountain, there's total privacy (I don't even think that in the winter when the leaves are gone anyone could see the Retreat), the view of the Smokey Mountains is spectacular, the house is warm and cozy with all the accouterments you could want. My biggest problem is motivating myself to want to go out and travel around. We had planned to spend one day just staying in and we choose Tuesday. Just sat on the swing on the deck and read a book all afternoon. It was great! Unfortunately we got rain on Wednesday so that was an "in" day too, but still just great to sit in front of the fire and chill out. Sandy and Ty, you have created a wonderful "Retreat" and because of your willingness to share, we can all enjoy it as well...so, THANK YOU!"

  • Sweet Spot in the Mountains

"We decided to book the cabin for Christmas and it really made our holidays special. It's a perfect, cozy spot for anybody who wants a peaceful getaway to the mountains. The wood ceilings and floors, rustic decor, cozy fireplace and huge porch with an amazing view (all for a great low price) make this cabin more than ideal. The cabin is also pet friendly so we were allowed to bring our dog to come enjoy the vacation with us- and he had a blast! Cindy was a pleasure to deal with. She waived our pet fee as a holiday gift (thank you Cindy!), helped us work the fireplace, and when we forgot some of our most favorite, expensive teas in the cupboard she had them shipped back to us in days. Overall, you can't really go wrong with this cabin. And don't be too intimidated by the steep driveway, it's good to be prepared but it's not too bad. I would definitely recommend!"
