"Our first time using vrbo was a hit! The location is perfect- just a small drive to stores and gas stations. The property itself is not secluded but it felt like it! (We almost let that stop us from booking-so glad we didn't- yes, the cabin is in a very small neighborhood, but we never really saw a lot of people and never felt encroached upon). We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the screened-in porch at night, listening to the creek that runs behind the cabin. The cabin is well-stocked --towels, bedding, pillows were plentiful! Very clean!
When I was reading reviews, I didn't see any from people with small children. Our son is 2 and loved chestnut cabin! There was a basket of toys he found and immediately took to the screened-in porch to play. He's a pro at navigating stairs so we had no issues with him climbing to the loft. They are a little steep so, if you have concerns, you might want to bring a gate or rig a blockade. :) For parents of littles with allergies: the bedding is scented so if that's a problem for you, perhaps consider bringing your own (wasn't a problem for us, just being thorough!). Playing on the property surrounding the cabin was by far his most favorite part of the whole weekend. He threw rocks in the creek and had plenty of room to run off all that energy from sitting in the car! In fact, he woke us up early both mornings, shoes in hand, "ready" to go outside!
If you are traving from the south and you have the time, take the scenic route: we got off I-26 at Hendersonville and went through the Pisgah National Forest and hopped on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a bit- absolutely breathtaking!!
If you're looking for streamlined stainless steel, granite, marble, saunas and spas, chestnut cabin is (obviously) not for you. But if you're looking for a clean, safe place to relax, save some money by cooking (or grilling!) your own meals, to have some privacy because your child is loud and likes to scream (A LOT), then this place is for you! We will be back!"
