  • Family from Winston-Salem, NC

"This is our 4th year staying here and each year we say this is the best year yet and this year was the best year yet! The cabin was in perfect order when we got there. The weather was great and the fish were biting. We enjoyed fishing, playing pool and grilling on the charcoal grill which makes the food taste so much better. The sounds from the river can be heard anywhere in the house and is soothing, peaceful and relaxing. The trip to the falls in Hayesville 5 miles away was a nice afternoon hike for several of the family members. Saturday we went to the Farmers Market in Murphy, NC and enjoyed walking around the town. We did not know that Hayesville, NC has a farmers market until the day before we left and we plan to go next year when we return for our 5th year to this wonderful cabin. Our dogs had a great time, especially running at the river, getting in the water and chasing each other with sticks in their mouths. As always, Strickland - the owner - called us the 1st day to make sure we got there safely and that everything was perfect in the cabin. If there is a problem, we tell him or call him and he comes to fix the problem or sends someone right away to take care of it. No matter what the problem is, he wants to make it right and will go out of his way to make sure it gets done and our stay is a great one. He doesn't care how many times you call or email him. He is the type of owner that wants to make your stay an excellent experience and will go out of his way to make sure this happens. For instance, the coffee maker was broken and he had a neighbor go by and pick up a new one that night and bring it to us along with coffee for us. Now that is instant service."

  • Needed a New Year's Eve retreat

"We had a wonderful time relaxing in your cabin. We were able to use the fire pit every evening and appreciated the owner making wood available for that. We also wanted to watch the college football games but on arrival, we found that the Dish Network did not have ESPN or ESPN 2...however, within an hour of contacting the owner, he had that resolved and I had a happy bunch. We had a great time and will be back again!"

"This place was so beautiful! The pictures don't do it justice. The cabin day beautiful. You don't need anything, it's got all you need. The place is majestic and the view of the lake and mountains is gorgeous. The owner was so sweet and very responsive. We had a wonderful time. Would definitely recommend it"

  • Weekend getaway for 2 couples

"A friend of mine and our girlfriends decided to take a spontaneous trip to the mountains for a weekend getaway. After looking at a lot of places in western NC, we stumbled upon this gorgeous house in Hayesville. Although Hayesville is a smaller town, there's plenty to do around the area (vineyards, golf courses, hiking, sight-seeing, horseback riding, and good restaurants, etc.) and staying in this home almost makes you want to stay in all the time! Hot tub has a great view on the porch overlooking the lake and mountains. Great place to watch the sunrise. The owners were very kind and helpful in making sure we were prepared for the weekend. House is easy to access and even though is near other homes, feels very secluded. The road is paved up to the house, which was really nice not having to worry about any treacherous unpaved roads on a mountain. There's also a grocery store less than 10 min away, which was very convenient. Had a minor glitch with payment, but the owners were very quick to fix it, and very easy to work with. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our vacation, and would recommend this place to just about anyone."
