Our Third Visit!
"This was our third time staying at The Rockaway Hideaway and we returned to find it just as wonderful as we remembered it. The cabin is really lovely. It is charming, well appointed and immaculate; a comfortable and inviting place to be. The owners have provided all the "fixings" you'll need to enjoy your stay, and nature has provided a magnificent back drop to complete the setting!
The cabin is conveniently located, so that any direction you head out in, you will find things to do. We ventured further west this time, through Smokey Mountain Park to Clingman's Dome and on to Gatlinburg,TN. We traveled southeast to Chimney Rock State Park and Lake Lure. Of course, nearby Waynesville was as charming as ever.
We tried some new restaurants and returned to some of our "old favorites" too.
All in all, we have come to realize that no matter what our vacation plans are for the year, they will include our "annual" trip to The Rockaway Hideaway. In fact, we have already started our list of things to do next year!"

"My wife and I loved staying in Cozy Cabin up in the mountains. We were close to Lake Junaluska for jogging and walking and to Waynesville for shopping and eating. Blue Rooster Southern Grill was our favorite. We traveled to Asheville for the antique malls and up Max Patch Road to wilderness. We traveled on the Blue Ridge Parkway and our favorite road was the precarious Route 215. When our grandchildren came to visit we had both incredible pictures of the Milky Way at the top of Max Patch, 8 miles from the cabin in the wilderness and also of a beautiful ice on the trees one morning. We enjoyed a family campfire in the backyard and hiking up the farmer’s old roads. Haywood County has the highest mean elevation of any county east of the Mississippi! 8” of snow on November 1st was a treat since we are from snow country. Seeing elk up close at Cataloochee Ranger Station was a thrill - surrounded by 6000’ peaks – was only 11 miles away. The hottub was very relaxing both in sunny weather and in the snow. The cabin was cozy and had all the utensils that we needed for a month."

"We stayed 2 days and feel very refreshed. The cabin is exceptionally clean and the porch over the river is fantastic. Everything was wonderful and for the cost could not have been better. I recommend to anyone looking for a cabin to rent.
Only complaint is we could not figure out how to light the fireplace or heaters. Did not really need them but a fire is always nice."

"This cabin is a gem and owners were a pleasure to communicate with! Plenty of comfy seating to gather the family at night which is a bonus! Kitchen fully stocked. More than enough of whatever we needed. The view is amazing and the breeze off the lake was truly fireplace worthy on a July night! Great deck! Quiet private street. Within minutes from downtown Highlands but feels so secluded from it. We will be back! Pointers for cabin seekers: trek down to lake is steep and could be unsafe for younger children or elderly. Trek back up is challenging for the cardio challenged. Neighbors are close by but lovely people. Canoes were a huge bonus! Cabin was clean and comfortable. No negatives! Beautiful area and cabin!!! There is no central AC but we didn't need it in mid July! Highlands temps are typically much cooler than surrounding areas and add the breeze off the lake and it was heaven! We were literally cold at night with blankets.
You will love this place!"
