"We had a great time at this house. The house is very comfortable and in fine shape. The pictures of the house/lake/property are all accurate. The only reason i knocked a star off was because the pictures don't show the lower bedroom which is essentially a sort of musty basement. Not a huge deal, but the pictures on this site seem to not show it anywhere which is slightly shady.
We had one very minor issue (no wifi password) and the owner was very speedy to correct it, which is always appreciated.
Having a canoe to use was an awesome perk. We explored all over the lake in it. The dock is great for hanging out on and the deck is fantastic! It's huge and the view is incredible, i can't stress that part enough. Also, a flying squirrel was living in the birdhouse west side of the deck, which is always fun to see.
If you choose to leave the comfort of the property and lake, things to do in the area are plentiful. Quick and easy drives can take you to excellent creeks to play in, waterfalls to view, and beautiful old growth forests to hike in.
We stayed here for 5 nights in the summer and I think we only saw 15 boats (maybe) and half of those were canoes/kayaks. It's a truly tranquil setting.
At the time of writing this (2014) the county that the house is in is the only dry county in all of NC. If you like alcohol, bring it in. If you come from the west, it's worth the drive to the east to get your hands on some of the amazing NC craft beer.
The only other small thing was that we didn't know what to do with the trash. I think the info folder for the house could use a slight update to correct this, but that's an easy fix.
We would (and probably will) rent this house again in the future.
Oh, and the furniture is really pretty."

"My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at Cove Cottage. It is as a lake cottage should be, beautiful views, quiet in abundance, very tasteful and timely decor, ample outside space, amenities and appointments that are way above the norm, perfect for catching up on your reading, but equipped with the necessary media and internet connections, very peaceful and refreshing. If you get to meet the owners, you will understand why Cove Cottage reflects their charm and hospitality. We hope to come back again soon...."

"We stayed in this cabin late June-early July 2015. We were somewhat familiar with the Nantahala area, but had never stayed on Lake Santeetlah. This home is located in a private community with gorgeous views of the mountains. We'd looked at several properties on Lake Santeetlah before booking. We did not realize until we arrived that the view from this side of the lake is much superior to some of the other properties. The neighborhood is quiet and lends itself well to morning and evening walks. The home is beautifully decorated and the kitchen is stocked well with most every gadget that you would need, even down to a salad spinner. There's a porch just off of the main floor living room and a screened porch upstairs. The screened porch is a great place to lounge with a good book. The lake is clean and quiet. Even though it was the beginning of July 4th week, there were surprisingly few power boats (maybe just a few) on the water. We used the kayaks in early morning and also in the evenings. The beds are comfortable, but a bit small. But the overall package is so wonderful, I would not have a second thought about this. Where else can you wake up with a view of the lake and mountains while still in bed?
Nearby outdoor activities include driving on the Tail of the Dragon and Cherohola Skyway, kayaking on the Nantahala River, tubing in Bryson City, numerous hiking opportunities on the Appalachian Trail, in Joyce Kilmer Forest, and the surrounding national forests, and more. There is a Stecoah Arts Center nearby, as well. They have concerts on Saturday evenings in the summer, for a fee.
I would strongly encourage advance meal planning and bringing most of your groceries from home. Ingle's in Robbinsville is the main local supermarket. It will not have some of the products that you are used to from home. If your drive is short enough, I would even recommend bringing your meat from home and just leave Ingle's for the last-minute milk and fill-in items that you need. There aren't many non-fast food restaurants in Robbinsville, so do plan that you should cook most of your meals in the cabin. Tapoco Lodge, just north on Highway 129 had a fun casual restaurant on the river that is open every day. Upstairs in the Lodge, there is a fine dining restaurant, but only open for dinner on certain days. Snowbird Lodge also looks like a good dinner option, but is a little pricey.
This is a GREAT home in a wonderful location. Strongly recommend!!"
