  • Cozy Gem Nestled in the Trees in a Lovely Country Community

"We love the Asheville area and have rented several places here before. This time, we returned with our whole family of five adults and two children. As soon as we opened the door of this cozy gem, its warmth welcomed us home. This is clearly a family home that the owners generously share with their guests. It is quiet, private and nestled in the trees in a lovely country community (complete with a resident flock of wild turkeys….) about 10 minutes from downtown Weaverville and 20 minutes from downtown Asheville. The family room and kitchen have wall-to-wall windows, which overlook the deck that runs almost the entire length of the house. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or to grill dinner, while surrounded by sweet mountain air and serenaded by rustling trees. As lovely as the view is outside, the tasteful country chic décor makes for a pleasant view inside as well. The owners have chosen an autumnal palette of colors and an eclectic combination of art and ceramics that suit the space. The family room is furnished with comfy soft leather sofas and an armchair with a wall-mounted flat screen tv above the fireplace. It made a wonderful setting for watching Saturday afternoon football and late night conversation. The kitchen is very well stocked, and we had everything we needed to cook family dinners, including ample seating at the dining room table. In addition, we all enjoyed drinking the clean fresh well water. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are first rate comfort. We enjoyed hiking to the panoramic view at Craggy Gardens as well as to the top of the falls at Graveyard Fields. Marilyn and Mark were responsive every step of the way. We particularly appreciated the guides to the area that they provided, both electronically as well as in binders left for guests on the kitchen table. Their welcome home email to us at the end of our trip added a special touch to a fantastic vacation. We’re already looking forward to returning next fall!"

  • This house is a must! Amazing Mountain Home! Perfect for 2 families or 3 couples.

"We had 3 couples. The house is amazing! Decorated with class and elegance. The kitchen is huge and 6 of us could cook at the same time. Kitchen supplies are stocked to the hilt! The bedrooms each have full LARGE bathrooms. For 6 of us we never ran out of hot water which is a HUGE plus when its 40 out. The rooms are separate ends of the house so there is lots of privacy. The sweeping mountain views from the back porch which spans the length of the house are amazing. There is a fit pit, lots of furniture on the back porch and a charcoal grill. The common area of the house has plenty of room. Alice and Mark were very accommodating passing on lots of information and giving us phone numbers and contacts if needed. She has kindly arranged having common items there when you arrive - toilet paper, paper towels etc. So if you arrive at night you don't feel you have to rush to the store. There is quite a lot of stuff to do in the area close by. Brevard is 30 mins away but a great little town. In Lake Toxaway there are a couple great restaurants. The water falls in the area are beautiful. For the price of this home nightly I would return every year. It is a BANG for your buck! Alice and Mark, THANK YOU for making some great memories for my husband and his company employees!"

  • Cozy and Quiet Retreat

"Recently my significant other and myself stayed at the Blackberry Cottage and it was a truly wonderful experience. We have been taking trips to Asheville regularly for the past 5 years and this past trip was by far the most relaxing! The long road up the mountain to the cottage is well worth the peace and quiet you get once you have arrived. The cottage is the perfect size and had everything we need (and more)! We could not have asked for a better spot or a better rental owner. Kelly was extremely helpful and very attentive to our needs. This little cottage really does have it all and my only wish was that we could have stayed longer (or maybe even forever)!"

  • Great home away from home!

"A friend and I were visiting Asheville for a horse show and found the perfect place to stay just ten minutes from the show grounds but so private and homey! I sure won't stay anywhere else when I am in the area again! Wonderful people who really want the stay to be great -- don't miss the screened porch with swing!"
