  • LOVED THIS COTTAGE!

"My husband and I stayed at The Orchard Cottage for a few days while our kids were at camp in the area. We had eaten at The Orchard last summer so we knew the location. Never noticed a cottage there. This is one reason why it's so desirable - close to restaurant but doesn't feel like it. The cottage far exceeded our expectations with a great living room that has plenty of seating, wet bar with mini refrigerator, fireplace, TV, lovely bedding with fine linens, large bathroom with plenty of great towels! We had dinner delivered from the restaurant (which is fabulous) and ate on our screened in porch. Loved it! I can't say enough about Chad, one of the owners. He was very accommodating and genuinely wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely want to stay at this cottage again and I highly recommend it."

  • Thanksgiving Gathering in a Wonderful Home

"Our multi-generation family of 13 gathered at this beautiful, upscale home for Thanksgiving and loved it! We had comfortable beds for everyone including the boys who shared a four-man bunk room and bath. The well equipped kitchen was large enough for several people to work on the Thanksgiving dinner at the same time. Thanksgiving decorations and an extra table were added to the big dining room so that we could all enjoy the fest together. The house furnishings are upscale in all respects, but were not too fancy to accommodate our 6 children. Each morning we drank our coffee and watched the sun come over the mountains bringing the valley below to life under its light blanket of snow. Beautiful views all around! The house offers a variety of places, so we were not all crowded together. We worked on a big puzzle in one corner, watched heart breaking football games in another room, roasted marshmallows over the fire, talked and visited for our annual time together. The beautiful garden was lovely even under a little snow! The kids especially loved the spa bathroom and the wonderful showers! We found the house as listed and photographed and would recommend it to any friend or relative. The rental company responded immediately to a problem and were very professional. We had lots of fun at the Asheville Treetops Adventure, the Western North Carolina Nature Center, and Biltmore Gardens. A highlight was dinner at Cedric's Tavern on the Estate climaxed by the Christmas Candlelight Tour of the Biltmore House!! All in all, we enjoyed a most memorable Thanksgiving holiday with our large family in a beautiful home and location. Would love to go back when the gardens are in bloom!!"

  • Equipped for family fun!

"This cabin is beautiful and the views are stunning! My husband, our teenage son and I believe this cabin was an awesome part of our last vacation before our son goes off to college. We spent the days either playing board games out on the deck or going to water water rafting or tubing. The nights we enjoyed making a campfire to cook dinner and talk. The cabin was stocked with everything from long forks to use for roasting marshmallows or hotdogs to recipe books to get an idea on what to make with the blueberries we picked at a local farm. Every morning I enjoyed having my tea and toast out on the deck to watch the mist roll over the mountains. The cabin has a notebook the has more info than any hotel could provide, with dining ideas, fun things to do and store info. Little Elk Knob made vacationing in the mountains easy and relaxing, Thank you!"

  • Serenity by the River

"Our stay at the River Retreat was just wonderful. We found the cabin to be cozy and most comfortable. It was very well equipped and we could think of nothing that was neglected. We did enjoy many of the places we visited in the surrounding area but the real attraction was right at our footsteps which was the river. When at its lower levels, it was comforting and mesmerizing. We enjoyed watching it rise during the releases of which there were several durng the week. At its high point it was a completely different river, just fascinating. We also enjoyed watching the local wildlife...geese, ducks, deer, etc. Brantz, the owner was a delight to work with and most helpful. We met some friendly and pleasant neighbors inclluding Bentley the friendly Golden Retreiver who made frequent visits. Of the dozens of cabins or cabins we've stayed in over 40 years from Canada to the Florida keys, we both agreed this was our favorite setting. Can't think of a single negative."
