Perfect Christmas Retreat with the Family
"This home is even more spectacular than the photos suggest and the owner even arranged for the home to be decorated with Christmas lights and Christmas tree during our stay. There was loads of room for our group of 20 and there was always something to keep us entertained if the weather kept us inside - reading in the libary by the fireplace with a view of the mountains, playing board games in the loft, or pool and ping pong on the lower level. Sipping coffee on the deck in the morning while watching the fog burn off to reveal the mountains was a particluar highlight. We had a wonderful week at the Eagles Nest and we recommend it wholeheartedly."

The favorite part of my vacation was getting up early morning and taking my cup of fresh brewed coffee to the porch and seeing all the wildlife! The Carolina Chickadee was the first to appear and the hummingbird quickly followed. Squirrels are always active in the trees.
The weather was perfect, just reaching a low of 47 degrees. The cabin was warm and cozy. Our group had peaceful, restful sleep every night on that quiet mountain.
During our stay we visited Waynesville, Ashville, Cherokee and drove into the Smoky Mountain National Park. The Waynesville visitor center told us about the Elk at dusk in the Cataloochee Valley. Hwy 276 to Cove Creek Rd (near I-40) then 12 miles back. That was the most AMAZING drive full of steep dirt and gravel roads ...but well WORTH it. The Elk were abundant. We also took scenic drives along the Blue Ridge Highway...breathtaking for this Florida girl! The leaves were just beginning to change with pops of color here and there. The middle of our stay was visiting a dear old friend in Canton where most of the locals work at Paper mill in town. A trip to Wheels thru Time Museum is a MUST,even for non-bikers. Our group spent about 2 hours there. Food places are hit or miss. Call ahead because not every restaurant is open every day. Butts on the Creek was recommended , but we arrived on Wednesday and the sign said " Open Thursday-Sunday". Again, Joey's Pancakes was on the list...but CLOSED on Thursday.
Throughout our stay, we were always comforted to know that we would arrive back home to our creature comforts. We loved your cabin. Very spacious and convenient for our group of four. Your home is clean and homey with plenty of modern conveniences like Cable , WIFI and washer dryer!
I would come back again and will definitely recommend this cabin to my friends and family.
Thanks Celeste for opening up your place to us!

"If you enjoy golf, the mountains and a great location, Misty Mountain is the place for you! My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay. The townhouse had everything we needed and Tom and Nancy were wonderful to work with. The place is neat, clean and the kitchen had everything we needed for our six night stay. If you love to golf, Maggie Valley golf course is perfect. We enjoyed walking around the course in the evenings too. Close to everything! Only negative - if you are an avid TV watcher, TV's are not flat screens or HD. But who watches TV when you're on vacation. Thanks again Tom & Nancy, we will be back :)"

"We stayed in Thunderstruck Cabin in 2010 at the beginning of spring. This year, we wanted to visit Maggie Valley in the fall to enjoy the foliage in the area. When my husband suggested we stay at Thunderstruck Cabin again, I didn't bat an eye! We love the million-dollar view as well as the homeyness of the inside of the cabin. Everything is exactly as the photos show, no deception anywhere. Sometimes it's nice (but hard) to be disconnected from the world -- no internet service until you get into Maggie Valley. That way everyone has to use real words to communicate!
We enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks, Lissa and Scott, for sharing your beautiful cabin with us again!"
