"Well taken care of log home. Fenced yard was a big plus. Cabin was very clean. Owners very easy to deal with except they aren't selling!!! Lol. Beautiful area. Wildlife everywhere. So peaceful!!! So much to do and see if you have a notion to or do nothing at all. So quiet. Brevard has some really cute shops. Worth spending a day there. The waterfall behind the log cabin is wonderful. Sat by it for hours and read. Parks we'll worth hiking. Would love to return."Guest: Kim M. Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: June 27, 2014View listing

"We loved every minute of our one week stay at Happy Bears Cottage. We highly recommend Bear Lake Reserve for a quiet retreat amidst stunning beauty. The house is tastefully furnished and well-cared for -- there was ample seating in the living area, a huge dining table & bar stools with seating for ten, bedrooms with amazingly comfortable mattresses, and a nicely appointed gourmet kitchen adequately supplied for cooking for a crowd for the chefs among you. We loved having the large screened porch out back. It provided a safe place for our little ones to play -- with two seating areas for the adults as well. The view from the porch was stunning -- it directly overlooks a well-groomed pond, with views of the mountains beyond it. From the porch, you have easy access to a large, level grassy area around the pond -- perfect for our grandkids to enjoy. And just beyond the pond was the amphitheater area, with an even larger grassy field. This cottage is very close to the main gate, which gave us quick access to the surrounding areas on the days we wanted to explore. There are two small towns (Sylva & Cullowhee) within a 30 minute drive with grocery stores and other necessities. We spent a day at the Biltmore Estate, which is a scenic one-hour drive away. There are lots of outdoor activities available in this general area: rock climbing, hiking, beautiful waterfalls & gem mining (Franklin area), horseback riding, zip-lining & whitewater rafting. But with the outstanding amenities available at Bear Lake Reserve, you may never leave the resort! Everything was top-notch and well-groomed -- from the incredible mountaintop golf course with stunning long range views, to the lake club area with its two pool areas & gorgeous views of the lake (one infinity pool for adults & one kiddie pool with slide), plus the amenities at the lake club (theatre room, library, kids' playroom, restaurant & café, fitness center), in addition to the marina area with various boat rentals, as well as the trout pond pavilion with catch & release fishing in their stocked pond, to the Bear Creek Park area with nature trails, fire pits & camp areas for family adventures -- there are so many activities to enjoy in this resort community! Do be aware that this particular cottage is not suited for anyone with limited mobility -- there is a steep slope with stone steps from the small parking pad to the front entrance. However, I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone else -- we loved it!!"Guest: Christina L. Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 3, 2014View listing
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay over the 4th of July,2014. The cleanliness exceeded all our expectations. The home was so neatly decorated. The treats that were there for our enjoyment were delicious. We watched a group that were kayaking down the Little Tennessee. We are looking forward to returning as soon as it is possible. Sara and Allen were terrific to work with."Guest: Jim and Myrna Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 8, 2014View listing
