  • And a Dream it is!

"There is no doubt that this cabin is so much more than 2 people can possibly enjoy in 3 nights, but enjoy it to the fullest is what we did! The ammenities, the hot tub on deck and in the master bedroom was so relaxing, leaving the cabin for anything was totally not necessary! The kitchen is well stocked from appliances to cookware, utensils, cleaning supplies and even little extra's in the cabinets (seasonings in case you forgot any). There is so much to say about Carolina Dreaming....there is no doubt that we will be coming back and maybe the next time with a couple of friends! Thank you so much Linda! I couldn't have chosen a more fantastic cabin in Nantahala region! The Gorge is beautiful too!!"

  • Comfortable and peaceful

"Our family of 6 rented the cabin for a long weekend. It was easy to find, very comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay. Kitchen is nicely outfitted; you may want to bring ice (no ice maker). Hot tub was great; wonderful wrap-around porch with swing and rocking chairs - we ate breakfast outside each day. Only about 20 minutes from the NOC or (other direction) Andrews (grocery store). Would return if in area again."

  • Amazingly perfect get away.

"I was lucky enough to be able to get almost my all of my children together to take a vacation! The trip doubled as Spring break for us all and senior trip for my twins and their best freind. It took us an hour to get up wayah road and onto winding stairs because we kept stopping and climbing down to the cascades and small waterfalls. We were in awe of the area. When we got to the cabin there were more oohs and ahhs. The pictures don't do it justice. You can't smell the fresh mountain air in the pictures, or the woodsy smell as you walk into the cabin. For lack of better wording, it was perfect. Beautiful wood floors and stairs. And that kitchen sink is to die for! My husband actually cooked breakfast and dinner (we had picnic lunches almost every day) and cleaned the kitchen the entire week!! As I sat on the covered porch and listened to the nantahala river off in the distance I felt more relaxed than I have been blessed to feel in a very long time. We missed snow by only 1 day, there was snow on the ground and tops of the mountains when we got to town, being born and raised in central Florida, real snow is not something myself nor my children have experienced. Then the thunderstorms, wow. Just wow. I don't normally care for the rain but the sounds were amazing. The thunder booming and rolling throught the valleys isn't something we hear in Floridas flat lands. I sat outside for a long time just recording the thunderstorm sounds. We were fortunate enough it only rained at night or early morning. We traveled down old river road and into the cute little town of Andrews. Then we took winding stairs all the way up and over and down down down. That was an awesome ride!! And we climbed up the creek at the bottom of winding stairs where I played in the cascades and creek. I felt like a kid again. Yes, the water was COLD but it was so worth it. And I would definitely recommend visiting wayah bald for more amazing views. And don't forget the bartram trail and Appalachian trail both nearby!!! All of our vacations until now have been tropical and beach themed, this was such a wonderful change of pace and new scenery. We will most definitely return. We are officially in love."

"WOW! The Nantahala River Lodge is an awesome destination retreat or vacation cabin to enjoy in the Wintertime. And owners Mickey and Annette are incredibly accommodating and their detail to things very helpful. Our winter getaway to the mountains of NC and their cabin was A++ from beginning to end. Being right on the river and getting 4" snow; the beauty and sounds of Mother Nature was at its finest while being nestled inside this well crafted cabin enjoying the fireplace, fellowship with friends and delicious meals prepared in a well equipped kitchen. All we had to bring was food and beverage. Pictures of the cabin and grounds drew us to want to stay at the NRL. But until you actually stay there and walk the grounds and river areas and surround yourself in the history of the structure of the cabin and furniture made of reclaimed wood from their family's NC cabins and barn along with the many artifacts and family history's unbelievably surreal. The cabin is not that far from the NOC and while it is along side a road-that was never a problem for us. In fact, we were relieved seeing how well maintained the road was during the freezing rains/ice and snowfall. So our sad departure because our winter getaway ended, was atleast a safe drive out of the mountains. Thank you Mickey and Annette for sharing your beautiful and unique cabin with us and your wonderful hospitality. We had a great, relaxing and special memory making time at the NRL."
