"The Blue Arrow Cottage is absolutely perfect for getting away from hustle and bustle. My favorite thing to do was to sit on the awesome wrap-around porch in the early morning hours and read. The only sounds were birds, bees (the Mountain Laurel was in full bloom) and squirrels chasing each other up and down trees. No car sounds. Just an occasional plane. It was a true escape but not out in the middle of nowhere. The cottage had everything you need - the kitchen had many of the staples that you need to cook basic meals if you want to stay in and cook. There was sufficient paper products. The beds were comfortable. The showers worked very well. If you wanted to kick back after your shower they have luxurious bathrobes for your use. There was WiFi available and it worked very well for us. We loved every minute of our stay. The guys had good luck with their fly fishing in streams within 30-45 minutes from the cottage. I could easily see us coming back to this wonderful spot."

Great cabin, great location, stocked with everything
"My wife and I (and some friends) really enjoyed staying at this rental cabin. The creek is right behind the cabin and provides a wonderful background sound of rushing water as you sit on the back porch and enjoy the setting. We attended a class at the John C. Campbell Folk School which was less than 3 miles away (a 5 minute drive). There is lots of room in the cabin and it was stocked with everything you might need. We highly recommend it and hope to rent it again in the future."

"We had a great time at this house. The house is very comfortable and in fine shape. The pictures of the house/lake/property are all accurate. The only reason i knocked a star off was because the pictures don't show the lower bedroom which is essentially a sort of musty basement. Not a huge deal, but the pictures on this site seem to not show it anywhere which is slightly shady.
We had one very minor issue (no wifi password) and the owner was very speedy to correct it, which is always appreciated.
Having a canoe to use was an awesome perk. We explored all over the lake in it. The dock is great for hanging out on and the deck is fantastic! It's huge and the view is incredible, i can't stress that part enough. Also, a flying squirrel was living in the birdhouse west side of the deck, which is always fun to see.
If you choose to leave the comfort of the property and lake, things to do in the area are plentiful. Quick and easy drives can take you to excellent creeks to play in, waterfalls to view, and beautiful old growth forests to hike in.
We stayed here for 5 nights in the summer and I think we only saw 15 boats (maybe) and half of those were canoes/kayaks. It's a truly tranquil setting.
At the time of writing this (2014) the county that the house is in is the only dry county in all of NC. If you like alcohol, bring it in. If you come from the west, it's worth the drive to the east to get your hands on some of the amazing NC craft beer.
The only other small thing was that we didn't know what to do with the trash. I think the info folder for the house could use a slight update to correct this, but that's an easy fix.
We would (and probably will) rent this house again in the future.
Oh, and the furniture is really pretty."

"Our family of 7 stayed in this beautiful home, located behind the gates in Lonesome Valley, for a family wedding. It exceeded our expectations in every way! The secluded house is absolutely beautiful, with so much warmth and charm. The screened-in porch, with fireplace, was our favorite gathering place with a wonderful swing, rocking chairs and surround sound music. The hiking trail and stream located right out the back door was amazing as were the entire grounds of approximately 800 acres. This cozy home has all the amenities you could possibly want.
We also enjoyed the local restaurants in and around nearby Cashier's. Chad was wonderful to work with and so accommodating. We would highly recommend this property and I look forward to coming back and enjoying this mountain paradise again!"
