  • Great Thanksgiving

"This is our second visit and it just keeps getting better! We brought the dog this time, our 13.5 year old mini Schnauzer. I'm not sure who had a better time, the dog or us! The three of us needed some downtime and that is just what this getaway allowed us to do. The snow showers on Thanksgiving was the perfect addition to the trip :) Oh, and the white squirrel that we saw in the woods was amazing!!! Thank you as always for a great get place to re-coup!"

  • Holiday Fun

"The pictures don't do the property justice. The gorgeous entry gate, swing in the gazebo, beautiful pond, huge decks and back creek are just a few of the things that we loved. The cabin was very clean and had all the comforts of home. You were so attentive and courteous!"

  • Perfect long weekend

"We recently had the pleasure of staying at Huckleberry’s Hideout in Bryson City. The cabin was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy a much needed long weekend. The well maintained cabin sits at the top of a long driveway and is very secluded. In the evenings we enjoyed rocking on the large porch, listening to the horses at the stables below and watching the glow of the fire in the fire pit. There is a nice grill for evening meals and a well equipped kitchen. On the second level there is a game room that we honestly did not use since we spent most of our free time on the porch but, would be a great asset to those traveling with children. Downtown Bryson City is a short drive away and the Ingles Supermarket had everything we needed and even some organic staples. We found the people of Bryson very friendly and accommodating. The downtown area was very busy on the weekend but we felt like we had it to ourselves during the week. We enjoyed “The Filling Station” for a quick sandwich, “The Cork and Bean” for dinner (I would have gone twice if we had the time) and a pretty authentic Italian restaurant,“ Pasqualino’s” . I cannot say enough about the location of this cabin. We felt close enough to everything and anything we wanted to do. The Nantahala Outdoor Center is a short drive with rapids easy enough for families or first timers. On the way to the NOC take a detour and check out Fontana Lake Dam and Tail of the Dragon (if your stomach is up to it…mine was not)! Also nearby are the Blue Ridge Parkway, Nantahala National Forest and Great Smokey Mountain Park with hours of hiking, driving and site seeing. I will briefly address the driveway since so many seemed to mention it in previous reviews. We drove a Toyota Rav4 with front wheel drive. We were able to get half way up but no further. After two tries we returned to the bottom and went up in reverse /backwards. We had no problems doing this and came and went with ease. Those with all-wheel drive should not have any issues. There is a place to park at the bottom of the driveway but it is a bit of a hike up. Do not let this deter you from renting this great cabin in a perfect location! Also want to extend a special thank you to the owners for allowing our furbaby to join us!"

  • Fantastic Experience

"Our Family stayed for a month to escape the South Florida summer heat and we enjoyed every second of it. Having rented a few times in the Carolina mountains, I can say that this cabin is an excellent value and you will not be disappointed. Kathy was great to deal with and very quick to answer any questions or concerns. Great front yard our small children played for hours every day and caught fireflys before bedtime. Well appointed cabin with everything you need, the lot with the creek running through and waterfall in the back is special. Once the trees grow a little more on the perimeter landscaping the entire lot will be completely private from the road and an already great place will go up another notch. We had a great time, thanks Kathy and Stan"
