  • Christmas Rental

"My family celebrated Christmas this year at the cabin with 11 people and it was perfect! The house is laid out so well that it can accommodate that many people without feeling crowded. It is set in a beautiful mountain area and is close to Chimneyrock and not terribly far from Asheville for daytime outings. The house is very clean, and the hot tub and pool table were a big hit! We will definitely return in the future!"

  • Excellent place for a short getaway with our little family!

"My wife and I were looking for a little spot to take our kids for a few days over the Christmas break. We have a 5 year old, 3 year old, and 3 month old. The goal was to find a place to shut ourselves inside for a few days and enjoy family time without the distractions of home. This "little house" was exactly what we needed. The house was excellent and Mrs. Millie and Mr. Jack were much better than we could have expected as hosts. Their hospitality (and the blueberry muffins) was very much appreciated. We enjoyed everything about our stay. The kids loved the hot tub and the goodies left by Mrs. Millie. We enjoyed making s'mores by the fire pit and grilling on the outdoor grill. The cabin is in a beautiful spot too. The ride in can be breathtaking with beautiful waterfalls and rapids. We've talked about a return trip in the summer. Thank you for helping us make memories with our kids!"

  • Peace and Relaxation

"The cabin was exactly as mentioned. Very clean, cozy, quiet and secluded. The owners provided everything we needed, along with a few extras! They were great about responding to any questions or concerns we had prior to our trip! I can't express how clean the cabin was!! Not a speck of dust, and it being a cabin in the woods I was extremely surprised to not even a single insect inside!! I will definitely try to make my way back to this little treasure, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway!!! Thank you to the owners for sharing their home with us!"

  • Felt like we were house-sitting for a friend

"First of all, I should mention that Carol was incredibly accommodating before we even left home to head to Highlands. Severe winter weather was in the forecast, and I was monitoring the situation closely (not even knowing what, if any, sort of weather policy applied to my reservation). Before I even expressed any concern to Carol, she reached out to me and offered to let us move our dates if there was a danger of our trip being affected by the ice and snow. She was extremely flexible in letting us wait to make a "game time" decision on whether or not to delay our trip, since the property was available in the days following our stay. We did end up delaying our departure by a day and were glad we chose to do that. The property itself was even better than the photos and description convey. It was just the right distance from town to feel very secluded, yet with everything still within a reasonable (and gorgeous) drive. The open layout of the home and the modern style and amenities made it very different than the kitschy, cookie-cutter cabins we've rented in other destinations. The creek and white water made for such a refreshing backdrop. We loved that there was no TV in the main living area. We enjoyed just relaxing and playing checkers in front of the wood-burning stove, a great feature. As someone who likes to cook on vacation, one of the biggest perks was the fact that the kitchen was so well stocked. We liked not having to worry about buying things like salt and pepper or coffee filters. It's obvious that the owners use the property regularly, and renters benefit from that. There are books to read, games, movies, and an extensive CD collection. I mentioned to my husband that it felt more like house-sitting for a friend than renting a sterile, impersonal property. I would highly recommend this property and will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Highlands."
