"My husband and I stayed here with our two boys (ages 6 and 8) and his parents. The house was perfect and had everything you could possibly need. Marilyn is a gracious host and responded to any questions we had promptly. She notified us before our arrival that the tv would be out of service for a couple days until the repairman could arrive. There was wifi available, but the connection was so slow that it was not really worth connecting to. Neither the tv nor the wifi were a problem for us because the point of our trip was to get away from it all. We swam, kayaked, canoed, played Pictionary, Scrabble, Rummikub, pool, air hockey, charades and just relaxed. It was fabulous. The house was clean and provided plenty of room for all of us. The path down to the lake was not a problem for my boys nor my in-laws (around 65 years of age). If you want to explore more of the lake, we recommend renting a pontoon boat for a day or two from Lake's End Marina. The owners are super friendly and accommodating."Guest: Diane M. "We spent a week here and had a great time. We primarily come NC to ride our motorcycle so I look for a couple things to make life easier, not too far out of the way, paved roads and room to park and maneuver the trailer we tow the bike in. The driveway is unpaved but is short and smooth. There is only one house within view and it's behind some trees so it's very private. The rest of the view is meadows with cows and the surrounding mountains and ponds with friendly ducks. The house is located on a dead end road with very little traffic. The house is well stocked and the kitchen is large and has everything you will need. There is a gas grill. There is a fire pit outside and there was some wood to use. There is not an indoor fireplace. There is Direct TV and it's basic channels. The washer and dryer are stacked and were a bit tricky to operate until we found the instructions for both on top of the washer between the two. There is not a music system and since we bring our own not a issue. Dave the owner was nice to work with. He responded to emails quickly and answered the phone the couple times I called. We actually extended our stay by a day and he made it very easy to do so. Again, we loved the place and would come back and look forward to doing so."Guest: Mike Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 24, 2014View listing
"What an amazing vacation for our family!!! The house is wonderful - clean, stocked with every imaginable convenience, beautiful views, lovely property, incredible amenities available, so clean, huge home with lots of room to enjoy... I could go on forever! The owners are wonderful people and so responsive to our questions! Tons of hiking. Close to Cashiers and Highlands and all the wonderful shops. Grocery store is only a few minutes from the house. Loads of great hikes in the neighborhood or just a short drive away. I can't say enough. Love being there. It is my families 'happy place'! Thank you! Thank you!"Guest: Patti Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: June 21, 2014View listing
"This top floor condo, conveniently located halfway between Cashiers and Highlands, has views that are simply breathtaking. There are two balconies, one that overlooks the mountains both short and long range and another screened porch with a fireplace. Each morning we went back and forth with our coffee enjoying the warmth of the fire then appreciating the incredible views. We repeated the same thing each evening with wine in place of coffee. We were instantly relaxed while soaking up the quiet and serenity. The 3 bedroom, 3 bath unit is tastefully furnished, uncluttered and very comfortable. The living room has a huge flat screen TV on one side and opposite is the floor to ceiling stacked-stone, gas fireplace. The kitchen is bright, clean, spacious and well stocked with appliances, cookware, bake ware and dishes. For those wishing to eat out, there are many very good restaurants in Highlands, some even pet friendly. The owners provided a comprehensive list for us. We purchased the temporary membership in order to indulge in the amenities. The clubhouse is gorgeous and has more outstanding views of the mountains and the golf course. The staff was friendly and most accommodating. The food was excellent. My husband played a round of golf and is still talking about how magnificent the course was. He took at least 50 photos during his game. Highlands Cove Realty manages this property for the owners and they are extraordinary. They coordinated everything to make our visit carefree. We were so grateful for the little extras the management provided. We arrived too late to shop and there was coffee and condiments arranged by the coffee pot. They left starter supplies of dish soap, dishwasher and laundry detergent. There were also beautiful toiletries in the bathrooms just in case we forgot anything. I have rented many properties over the years and have never stayed in a rental where so much attention was paid to little details. Highlands Cove has a neat app that you can download on your smart phone or tablet that has all sorts of information available before, during and after your stay. Overall, I cannot say enough about this vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the surroundings and the great service provided by Highlands Cove Realty and the Old Edwards Club. The condo owners have done a wonderful job with this rental property. We are already planning to return."Guest: Alison W. Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 7, 2014View listing
