"My wife, mother, our dog Macie and I all stayed in this duplex for a week in late July. My mom stayed in the smaller half of the duplex, while we stayed on the other side. There are chairs and small tables in the back yard that over look Lake Erie and from the screened porches there is a 180 degree panoramic view of the Lake. We would sit out and read, talk and just enjoy the lake. It is about 25 minutes to Cedar Point and Sandusky and about 40 minutes from Port Clinton. We spent one day at Put-In-Bay, rented a golf cart, and drove around the island - this was a nice destination, if your time allows. We also really enjoyed the historic town of Vermillion - nice shops and restaurants. If you like wine and good food, be certain to visit the Wine Vault - excellent food and atmosphere (although it is tight/cozy, but perhaps this adds to its ambiance). Great food and wine! I would recommend this house highly and we'll definitely be back for a visit. It was very hot the week that we were there, but in the back overlooking Lake Erie there always seemed to be a nice breeze. Oh, before I forget: those of you that work out even on vacation - there is a YMCA about 1/2 mile from the house with treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, weights and machines - awesome facility and opens early, so it doesn't take from your travels. The owner was wonderful and had a great deal of information for us when we arrived. Other place we visited: The Blind Perch (excellent food), Paper Moon Winery (good wine and eats - if you like Reds - don't worry, they don't use Ohio grapes) - oh, and a Quaker S. & Lube right on the water - five minutes from the house. Enjoy! We found a gem in Vermillion and a real appreciation for Lake Erie. There is a small beach a few blocks from the house, but it is a rocky, not sandy beach. However, if you are beach folks that like to sit and bake (not I) - the downtown Vermillion beach is wonderful - quant and sandy."
