  • Grand Lake Retreat

"We enjoyed our week at Grand Lake. We had three couples, four kids and a grandmother and we had lots of room in this large home. Everybody had a bedroom and bathroom to call their own. The views of the lake were very nice although it was a little difficult to enjoy the patio because the bugs were fairly agressive. A couple of cans of wasp spray improved the situation. The house is well equipped, with all the necessary kitchen equipment, Wi-Fi, lots of towels, two fridges, washer and dryer, etc. The house was older than I expected, although clean and well maintained. The location is about 15 minutes from Grove and the nearest Wal-mart and grocery. All of the recreation in the area focuses on lake activities as you might expect. We tried to take a ride on the riverboat tour of the lake but it was only available one day a week after we left. Seems like there is an opportunity for someone to start a minature golf park or something similar. Grand Lake is best enjoyed with a boat. We rented a pontoon boat from the house owners at a reasonable price for a couple of days and got out on the lake. Lake access is somewhat limited from the house. It is a steep walk of about a hundred yards and there is no proper "beach" area for swimming. After a little brush clearing we were able to make a space for the kids to swim. The boat dock was about a half mile walk and provided a good place for the little boys to catch perch. The owners were very nice and available at any time if needed. I would recommend this rental to others."

  • Always a great time.

"I can't imagine having better hosts than Ron and Diane. When they are around, they are willing to help out with any need. We, along with friends and family, rented the whole retreat this time and it was so much fun. When one of the smoke alarms was beeping, I told Ron and he had the batteries changed within about 5 minutes, even though they were fixing to go out for dinner! Ron also took us for an enjoyable night time boat ride. Our friends rented a jet ski and we paid for gas. Plus, the kids swam and fished off the dock, enjoyed the pedal boat and fire pit for roasting hot dogs and s'mores. We also took our boat out so the kids could go tubing. I always think we will go to Pensacola for the tour of the damn or to Little Blue Disney State Park...but we can't seem to find enough time. Also, the little pebble beach was just perfect for our 2 yr old grandson to sit and experience the water with his family. Thanks so much Ron and Diane! We're already planning another visit!"

  • Relaxing and GREAT fishing

"We just spent the weekend and had a great time. Nice quiet cove facing west for spectacular sunsets with large patio and chiminea. Owners are great people and go out of their way to be sure you have a good time. For those who like to fish, the crappie are huge right in your own fully functional double slip covered dock. Everything you need in there to fish including a convenient kitchen sink to clean you catch. We added it up and caught 6 different species of fish! Mostly crappie, but hybrid bass, channel catfish, bluegill, a few drum and other sunfish. Book your stay, they're still biting!"
