  • Great weekend

"The house was great. We really appreciated full baths in each bedroom. It is a roomy house and very comfortable. The trash can was full when I got there so I called and someone was there to empty it within an hour. Everything worked and was very clean. The only downside as mentioned in other reviews was the steps down to the beach. While we did not have trouble navigating the path, it was in good repair, we would have appreciated a combination lock for the gate so others in the group could go down to the beach at different times. One key for the beach gate didn't work very well. Also my daughter scratched her hand on the barbed wire wrapped around the bars on the gate while getting the lock open. The children (3-6 years old) did not have trouble getting down the path, but they were closely supervised. The beach was worth the work to get down there though. Over all we had a great time and would stay here again."

  • Excellent place to stay!!

"What a wonderful place to stay in Newport. We absolutely loved this place!! Fully equipped with everything we could possibly need. Clean, comfortable and the view is incredible. So convenient to everything!! We hope to visit again and will definitely stay here. The listing was exactly right only it is even better than described!! We would definitely recommend this to a friend or relative. It is dog friendly also and our dog loved it. We love to cook and the kitchen had everything we needed. For those who like to eat out there are lots of restaurants within walking distance. Of course the cafe downstairs was great. Loved our stay!!!!"

"My husband and I and another couple rented this condo during the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival, 2/21-23. We didn't realize we needed advance tickets to the festival but once we saw our condo (#5, although the other units were just as beautiful!) we opted out of going to the wine festival to have our own in the condo. This place was amazing!! It was lovely. The captains nook overlooked the beach; a great place inside the condo to enjoy happy hour and the beautiful sunsets. The week end was blue sky and sunshine. Beach access easy down the flight of steps. Bring your boots, though, because there is a "river" that runs through the middle of the sand preventing you from reaching the ocean (unless of course, it's summer; then you can wade through in bare feet!) Immaculate grounds. Each condo is being renovated to upgrade even more, and ours hadn't been done yet! We are definitely returning this year. This is a great place for a quick getaway. OH, I almost forgot!! When we arrived, there was a bottle of wine and a platter of cheeses and fruit waiting for us. AND, fresh flowers!!! We were VERY impressed with Starfish Point!!"

  • Wonderful place!

"Been coming to newport area for years now and this is def, my favorite place I have ever stayed! The house was gorgeous, the beach access was nice. Beautiful little path to the beach. Woke up watching the sunrise and whales. The sunsets were gorgeous as well. The only thing i would recommend is changing out the lock on the beach access gate, was very hard to open. Overall our family had a wonderful vacation and we will definitely be coming back and staying here! Thanks for a wonderful vacation!"

Newport Travel Tips

Newport Vacation Rentals in Oregon Make the Perfect Vacation Homes

The Oregon coastline is world-famous for its rock formations, dashing seas and scenic bays. Newport itself is known as the Dungeness Crab Capital of the World and has more than 80 restaurants, from small cafés to four-star dining experiences. It also offers a host of activities and attractions for those staying in this charming area. The nearby Siuslaw National Forest, the historic town of Toledo and the wineries of the Willamette Valley can all be visited from your Newport Lodging base.

With a population of 10,000, the town’s main industries are fishing, wood products and tourism. With a developed Bayfront area, Nye Beach and the Highway 101 corridor, Newport has something for every visitor.

Things to Do from Your Newport Lodging

The coastline offers a host of things to do from your Newport condos. Walking along the beach, crabbing and fishing are all popular activities. The area has many trails which are ideal for hiking including the 10-mile Cummins Creek Loop trail. The coast is known for its scenic lighthouses which can be visited. The lovely Yaquina Bay Lighthouse is believed to be the oldest structure in Newport. It was replaced three years after being built by the Yaquina Head Lighthouse, the tallest in Oregon at 93 feet. Fishing charters and whale watching trips both provide exciting days out from Newport.

How to Get to Newport Condos

The quickest way to reach Newport, Oregon from other states is by air. Portland International Airport is a 97-mile drive from Newport and has frequent flights to all parts of the U.S. The pleasant drive heads southwest from Portland through small towns and impressive scenery, including the wine country around McMinnville.

The Advantages of Newport Vacation Rentals

Choosing Newport Vacation Rentals makes good financial sense for families. Newport condos work out to be much cheaper per head than hotels, and the extra bedrooms allow everyone plenty of space to chill out and follow their own pursuits. Having your own Newport lodging means you can save money by preparing meals and stocking up on snacks and drinks at supermarket prices rather than spending on room service. Comfortable living space and a well-equipped kitchen are all good reasons to choose a vacation rental when planning your visit to Oregon.

Neighborhoods to Visit Around Your Newport Lodging

Corvallis is in the heart of the Willamette Valley wine country and a sizeable town with some good restaurants. Take a tour of a winery or sample the local produce, including the excellent Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay which are produced here. Take a detour to the picturesque Alsea Falls during your trip, situated near Apline.

Albany is another great day out from Newport. The Calapooia Brewing Company is a small brewery with a pub attached. The town’s museum is housed in the Thomas and Walter Monteith House which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Downtown Albany has a historic district and many antique shops and restaurants as well as the Civic Theater and Carnegie library.

The Weather in Newport, Oregon

The defining word of Oregon’s weather is “changeable.” In any single day. there may be clear sunny skies one minute and rain and fog the next. Foggy mornings give way to sunny afternoons so every day has the potential for fine weather. In winter, the crisp clear days are ideal for beach walks. Even in January, the average daytime temperature is a mild 45 F (7 C). Dry summer days reach 70 F (21 C) and mild nights make summer visits pleasant. The long Indian summers prolong the season into fall. Newport is unlikely to see snow due to its coastal position but further inland the Cascades have up to 550 inches (1,400 centimeters) of snow on the high peaks.
