"I hosted my family reunion this year and was planning on all activities for Beverly Beach State Park. Since I am a procrastinator I was two days late of booking the large yurt at the state park for our family functions that weekend so I panicked! I started looking on VRBO and saw The Captains House. I live locally and have driven by the house many times, always admiring it! So I contacted the manager of the rental with my needs. She was very helpful and after she contacted the owner with my situation, I set up a meeting with him to see if the property would fit my needs. The owner went out of his way to give me a tour of the home and grounds and it exceeded my expectations! My 3 Aunts who are from the ages of 78 to 85ish do not camp anymore and were going to have to travel back and forth every day 10+ miles each way to join us for the reunion, were so excited to stay at the house and not have to worry about driving back and forth. We greatly appreciated the beautiful home and property! The reunion was success!"

"Think of this place as a hot tub on top of a bluff with an amazing ocean view. We literally spent a few hours soaking in the tub and sipping wine while watching whales until the sun set. Once the whales were no longer visible, we started watching out for the stars. Amazing! I would recommend this place for folks who are comfortable camping. The dining/kitchen quarters consist of a picnic table on the deck, a small gas grill, and a hotplate. A random assortment of pots, plates, cups, and silverware are a available. We found that eating steaks with plastic forks was a bit challenging, so you may want to bring your own. The downside to our otherwise lovely stay was that when we emerged from a nice sleeping in at 9 AM, some workers showed up to fix something on the deck. Our special 24 hours away thus included chatting with them for 45 minutes, which was a a downer given that we had to leave at 11 AM. We assume it was a communication error, though the workers claimed the owner told them it was okay to come at that time... We were disappointed that the owner was not more responsive about this disruption to our romantic getaway. Nevertheless, this is a magical little spot."

"This was my second stay at this VRBO and was even more lovely than my last. The bathrooms were both newly remodeled and very clean and classy. The attention to detail and the care taken to make this home feel both cozy and tidy is admirable. A very peaceful and a wonderful relaxing get-away and I will be back!"

"This cozy and inviting home was perfect. Excellent location, plenty of room, stocked full of everything needed and then some. There were games and toys for the children to keep them happy as well as coffee and even treats for everyone. We loved the comfy "Big Red Couch" in the evenings. Very short walk to beach and blackberries along the way. This was the greatest vacation stay we have ever had. Only problem we ran into was a sticky door lock. Had to really be patient with it."
