Recent Seal Rock reviews

  • Loved it! Kid Friendly

"We picked Seal Rock for the tide pools for our 3 year old daughter, and we were not disappointed! Pictures do not do this beach justice! The house was perfect for us, warm and cozy, well equipped, and kid friendly touches like DVDs, beach themed books for kids, ocean puzzle, and fun picnic style kitchen seating. She was happy- so we were happy! We appreciated the extra towels, spices in the kitchen, tea, and cast iron cookware! We will be back!"

  • Perfect Family Vaca

"A full week at the coast with 3 generations of family, plenty of room in this lovely home to lounge and play and visit and reconnect. Other reviews have noted the many positives of this property, so at the risk of repeating I'll just highlight the details we thought were cool: * Whales and seals frolicking in the waves right outside the front windows nearly every day we were there. * Individual wall heaters in each room so everyone could set theirs to their comfort. * More than enough space: had we chosen to we could have accommodated 4 or 5 more - upstairs loft went unused, and the futon in the media room could have been another sleeping area. * Cupboard filled with board games. * Technology aplenty - able to hook up our own music and run Amazon Prime off my laptop through the tvs. * Everything we needed for meal prep, incl an electric griddle for new years pancakes. * Fire pit off the deck = smores for the kids. * Location: remote, private, yet minutes to town (Newport or Waldport) for supplies. * Could watch the children playing on the beach from the deck. Added bonuses: sunshine nearly our entire stay (in Jan!); and the folks who decided that directly in front of our deck was the best place to light and set off their (doubtless illegal) spectacular fireworks so we could enjoy them, too ... ;-)"

  • Stunning view!

"We must have looked at over 100 properties on at least three different web sites to find a place that we liked. The Seal Rock Beach House was perfect for the four of us (two couples.). When we first walked in, it took our breath away! We felt very comfortable here and recommend it highly. We would stay here again!"

  • Privacy and views!

"Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at this house. The feel of privacy among beautiful trees, with a stunning ocean view just out of the large picture windows, was what we wanted in an escape-from-civilization vacation. The layout worked well for our family of 5 (3 kids), and we found everything we needed (plenty of towels, sheets, kitchen supplies, etc). The beds were very comfortable. The "ladder" down to the beach was a bit rough, but our 6, 9, and 12 year olds could handle it fine by taking it slow. The beach was uncrowded, big, and beautiful. We loved walking North along the sand to Seal Rock. If your kids love running on sand dunes, though, there are none here. We drove about an hour north to Pacific City to play on the huge sand dune there, and we come to this area again with kids, that is where I will stay (or in the cute town of Yachats). It is a nice central location to explore to the North and to the South. The house is a little outdated, but if that doesn't bother you much, I would recommend it. The kitchen is old and small, there is clutter in the closets, and a few things (like bath mats and tablecloths), could be easily updated to make the house feel more luxurious."
