  • Elegant, modern house in BEST location in Bend!

"My husband and I spent five days here over our anniversary in October. We've stayed in 4-5 house rentals in Bend and this has been the BEST, hands down. The location can't be beat - literally steps to the Newport Market, a 5-min walk to several of Bend's best restaurants and cafes (Chow, Backporch Coffee, trendy Spork), a 10-15 min walk to downtown and also to popular 10 Barrel brewery (and The Lot, a great pod of food trucks - with beer!), and a short drive to NW Crossing, which just opened a branch of one of our favorite bakeries in the entire world, Sparrow Bakery. It's also just a 5-10 min drive to gorgeous Shevlin Park which is filled with aspens and dog-friendly running/hiking trails. We ran there every morning. The house is just as incredible as its location. First, it's super eco-friendly and the architecture is unique. The materials are beautiful including the polished hardwood floors and the stone (river stone?) doorknobs. Second, the overall layout works really well for privacy and space if you are traveling with a large family or several couples. There are two levels and the staircase leading to the second floor divides the second level into two very separate areas - one with the MBR and HUGE bathroom and the second with two smaller but lovely bedrooms, a full bath and a washer/dryer. Third, the downstairs living area is very comfortable. The kitchen looks brand new, was fully stocked with everything we needed, and had lovely finishes and high-end appliances. It would be a great place to entertain. Finally, it seems very dog friendly (yeay!). We didn't bring our dog on this trip but would do so in the future. A lot of rentals are more what I'd call "dog tolerant" but this one seems truly "dog friendly". The only two downsides are the stairs (if you or your dog have any problems with stairs) and also that the yard is on the side and is small, though it is fenced in. There's a reserved parking spot (not really needed in Bend but appreciated) in the back and even though the house sits on busy Newport, noise was not a problem. The house does not have views. Brian, the owner, was great to work with - very responsive and friendly, so BEND! We especially liked that the house is keyless - we used a four digit preset code (that we chose) to enter the yard and the house. Overall ,we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and plan to stay again on a future trip."

  • Great stay for mix of work and play

"We enjoyed our stay in the Basalt Bungalow, taking full advantage of the great local eateries within walking distance of the property (Spork!) as well as putting the well-stocked kitchen and bbq grill to use. The first day was a work day at the college for me, but the rest of the weekend was full of play including a great first day of the ski season at Bachelor. our party consisted of two girlfriends and a well-behaved dog who all enjoyed a girls weekend with a new off-leash hike every day. Soaks in the available hot tub were well earned! The board games on hand proved to be great entertainment for a 10 year old visiting nephew who put the tablet down to play several rounds of Sorry...Saturday night game night was warm and toasty here despite the chill outside. This home is small and cozy though would easily accommodate two couples. It's well appointed though still retains the casual charm of an older home with history."

  • Peaceful Paradise

"My significant other and I had a wonderful 2-week stay at Snow Goose Cottage. The cottage is located in a very quiet, peaceful neighborhood, and it's a short drive to all the amenities Sun River has to offer, and a 20-minute drive to Bend. We loved the peaceful setting, and all of the wildlife (mule deer, squirrels, birds) that came to visit every day. The house was completely stocked with everything you could possible need for entertaining or relaxing. The owners were very easy to work with, and very accomodating. We loved coming back every night after exploring Central Oregon, knowing we'd have a tranquil and comfortable place to relax after being on the road all day. Neither one of us wanted to leave when our 2 week stay was up!!"

  • Home Away from Home

"This house was a dream. After 29 straight days of camping we rolled into the Osprey Chalet wanting to pull into our own driveway. The house definitely served as a home away from home. It is very comfortable & clean. The house is equipped with everything you need, and we really loved the thoughtful journal. There is a map on the wall of the area. The simple things are very helpful when planning activities and enjoying the outdoors. The backyard is gorgeous for relaxing and BBQ. The front porch is picturesque. The location is great, not to far from the Cascade Highway or Sunriver Village. We enjoyed the river access nearby, and biked around the neighborhood. Linda was awesome and renting the place could not have been easier. She even mailed me the glasses I left behind!"
