  • Fabulous

"Perfect getaway! Ameneties beyond what your families could desire. Close enough to the village to get a hearty walk in, or to get a good workout by bike. Martha Stewart called, she wants her kitchen back. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed for the best 3+ meals a day. We have been coming for 11 years, best house for us yet! Thank you for sharing!!"

  • Great Experience !!

"Belated review but needed to let everyone know that this was an excellent home with super amenities. Quick maintenance service for the hot tub which very enjoyable. Morning breakfast was a special treat eating out on the deck and interacting with the deer. Was our first family trip to Sunriver and we plan on coming back!"

  • Deerfield Lodge, 2015

"This is the second time our group has stayed here. Great for four couples, each has own master bedroom. We have done this trip as four couples for the last 20 years. The nicest place I have stayed in Sunriver. Kitchen has all the pans and gadgets you would have at home. TV's are good. Bikes are in nice shape and ridable, unlike some in my past rental house experiences."

  • Beauty and solitude

"Hard to believe these places (The Ponderosa and its smaller neighbor, The Red Cedar) aren't booked 365 days a year. They feature the closeness to the amenities of Sunriver (grocery stores, swimming pools, golf courses, equipment rentals, etc.) without Sunriver’s crowds and its dated, cookie-cutter architectural asthetic. Instead, these beautiful, spacious homes sit on an inholding of Forest Service land that hugs the Deschutes River. The nearest Sunriver house is quite a ways upstream. You can’t see it unless you’re standing in the river. Downstream, there’s nothing but river and woods all the way to Bend. Yes, when you stay here, the river feels like it’s yours. Some friends and I discovered these places back in 1998 and we’ve been coming back every May (for the PPP) ever since. Some in our group are quasi regulars during the summer months for family reunions and such. We often have 14 or 15 in The Ponderosa and everybody is comfortable. Well appointed kitchen. Lots of common space on the main level, with plenty of windows through which to see the Deschutes. A large deck and patio. A good ping pong table in the garage, which also hosts a second refrigerator/freezer. Beautiful stone fireplace and plenty of dry wood. Lots of well maintained grass for Frisbee and Wiffle ball, etc. Bring your mountain and road bikes. Bring your rafts, canoes and kayaks. Bring your running shoes and hiking boots. After Memorial Day, bring your fishing poles. Bring your sunscreen, your steaks and salmon to barbecue, your favorite books, your teenagers, your parents, whoever and whatever. Everyone will enjoy their time here, and no one will want to leave."
