  • overall impressions

"Home beautiful, right on Deschutes River, good sleeping arrangements, plenty of silverware, cups, dishes since we had 12 people. Kitchen was poorly stocked - no griddle, only one frying pan, microwave on/off button frequently did not work, ice maker broken (we had no ice but Sunriver Resort delivered to us twice), master bath shower head broken and was fixed by Resort but broke again, one of the bikes had a bent frame. We had it fixed and paid for it. Outdoor hose duct taped together and leaked. Home itself was very nice. Believe owner should check and re-stock cooking items more frequently. We ended up buying some disposable pans. Wifi worked when we arrived but as time went on, wifi dropped individual devices and refused to re connect. We eventually fixed the problem by re-starting the wifi equipment in the home but renters who aren't computer savvy would not be able to fix the problem."

  • Ridge Condo

"The condo was absolutely beautiful. It had everything that we needed or could even think of and was impeccably clean. It was also very, very quiet. The office staff was also very helpful. The master bed was very, very nice. Televisions were huge and had a tremendous variety of stations. Wifi was easily accessible. We had very good weather and a variety as well. Three out of the four nights we had thunder and lightening. One of the eventful nights the thunder was like symbols crashing. I thought it was very exciting, but also a little scary. My granddaughter (8 ys) bonded with two other little girls that were staying in the complex. They preferred the condo pool to SHARC. I don't think they were out of the water much. Just the times that the management closed the pool due to the lightening and thunder. My grandson (16 ys) and his friend thoroughly enjoyed the SHARC. There was a teen night that they had a tremendous time. The only forewarning that I would have is to take bug repellant if you get close to the river. The river is beautiful and I would definitely recommend renting a raft of some sort to enjoy the beauty of this area."

  • Perfect location and amenities!

"We stayed at the Blue Goose Lodge over the Thanksgiving holiday with a large family group, ages 2 to 82. There was something for everyone! From a quiet, tucked-away reading nook to a full-sized pool table, each member of our group was comfortable, entertained and happy. The kitchen and dining amenities made hosting a large Thanksgiving dinner easy. The homeowner has thought of everything, from Cuisinart food processors to large platters to place settings for nearly three dozen people! There were bikes and helmets for everyone who wished to ride the beautiful river loop path and the outdoor hot tub relaxed us as we gazed at the beautiful Oregon sky. Thank you, Lisa, for providing our family with a lovely family experience!"

River Village Travel Tips

The Winter Wonders: River Village Cottages

Cradled along the Cascade Ranges, surrounded by lakes and mountain miles, is Sunriver. This Oregon community -- began as a private retreat in 1969 -- is a seasonal destination. Too often, however, is that season assumed to be summer. While those seeking warm days and warmer evenings will find much to enjoy in Deschutes County, those preferring winter will be just as delighted. Explore the snow; indulge in the cold; and allow River Village cottages to center you among all adventures.

Ice Bound Ease: River Village Vacation Homes

The weather may be fickle -- a collection of winter storms and frigid mornings -- but luxury is meant to be constant. Holidays aren't to be spent in the suffocating hotels, the tiny quarters. They are each instead to be offered comfort; and River Village vacation homes provide that. Enjoy waking to snow-capped mountains while indulging in modern amenities (such as expansive rooms, full kitchens and online access for those necessary slope updates). The season can finally be enjoyed.

Discover Oregon: Activities

The world beyond River Village cottages is a geological marvel -- a sprawl of cliff-sides, peaks and volcanic remnants. And these become spectacular during the winter. Explore the Mount Bachelor ski resort (the sixth largest in the nation: offering almost 4,000 acres and 71 runs). Go dog-sledding along the High Cascades. Take a snowmobile tour through the Newberry National Volcanic Monument, which offers panoramic views of central Oregon. Go ice fishing on Paulina Lake. And return to Sunriver vacation rentals for relaxing meals at The Grille at Crosswater (which offers fine dining, a lodge atmosphere and magnificent scenery). The season will be a success.

Embrace the Cold: Sunriver

Spring doesn't appeal; summer doesn't intrigue. You crave the uncommon months instead -- and River Village vacation homes allow you to find them. Experience adventure without sacrificing comfort.
